Thank for the info Anne, I am currently in discussion with several qualified Employment Law specialists, I don't tend to take things laying down, will pm you, or anyone else interested when I have more information
tracy, do you live in a right to work state? If you do, then they have the right to fire you for any reason or no reason just as you have the right to quit with or without notice.
But, if you happen to be over a certain age or a member of a minority group, you may be able to sue them for discrimination.
Of course, if you do not work in a right to work state, go after them (in fact go after them anyway). Sometimes just getting contacted by an attorney will make someone do the right thing. But, don't quit until you find something else.
I am in the UK so our employment laws are pretty stringent, most cases loaded in favour of the employee where failure to follow correct procedure is set in stone, there have been developments that I can't post on a public forum just in case
But bollocks are going to be nailed to walls one way or an another, will let you know via pm as and when, and thank you and everyone else that has posted - I REALLY appreciate it
Get whatever is your rights to get. It's fine if you wish to not post at all further on this to PM people. Good luck & I hope that it all plays out in your favor.
Tracey, I am sorry that you are losing your job for being a moral human being. That's just not right- and I wish you luck in your legal matters.
When I got laid off in Sept, I thought it was the end of the world. I had a pity party for myself and everything. But things happen for a reason. I am back at Leerburg and things couldn't be better. The person that took over doing my old job? Well, she's been on medical leave for stress problems. Hmmm, could have been me.... (My Blood pressure dropped 15 points when I got laid off).
Because of the kind of person you are, I believe Fate has bigger and better things waiting for you
