The pedigree you linked is a West German showline dog. Yes, WGSL breeders get SchH titles on their dogs before breeding them. It does not make them working line dogs.
Em, A concern I would have is that there is no Rating for HD on the Dam of the dog you linked. Perhaps she is rated an it simply isn't listed, but I would only buy a dog whose HD rating went back quite a few generations- complete and good. This may not be the dog you are looking at a pup from, but it does concern me that the proper testing may not be complete on some of his dogs.
Em, I honestly don't see anything that would make me look there for a dog.Its only a website, so I could be missing a lot thats just not on there. I know you put down a deposit, so I'm sorry you're losing that, if you are. But I think your right looking elsewhere. Isnt Staatsmacht in Minnesota?
Thanks for the honest opinion. I'm definitely going to look in another direction at this point and consider that deposit a sad lesson in not doing my research! Someone else actually suggested Staatsmacht and I'm currently looking into his dogs now. Nice to hear their name mentioned a second time.

Why not ask them straight out if their dogs have show conformation or if they have a wild type hind end, or if the litter is mixed in this trait.
If the litter is close, go look. If mom is waddling along, forget it, but if she is functional the pup you are hoping for could be right there.
Besides, looking at pups is always fun, and will give you something to compare if you go looking elsewhere.
That actually is a good idea to just outright ask, but I think at this point there are a bunch of other red flags to me that I'm not even going to worry about it and just keep looking elsewhere. The breeder will do a protection demonstration in August at a local city-wide "dog-day" event and I'll go take a look and see if I missed out, but I think at this point I should have 100% confidence in my breeder and I just don't with this guy.
Katie and Amy, both of what you said are more red flags to me! Geez, did I blow it or what? Lesson learned!
THANK YOU everyone for commenting. I am definitely re-starting my puppy search and will hopefully find the right puppy for me.
