Is she on one meal a day or two?
"She has been on TOTW, EVO (red meat and the reduced fat version), Innova, Before Grain, Solid Gold, Orijen, Chicken Soup, Merrick, "
These were all before this new urgency and poop accidents, right?

Did poops improve when cat-food-eating stopped?
Nope.

Yes, Both are fed twice a day. They have both been on TOTW for about 2 years. Yes, the urgency just started these past several months on TOTW. Before all this it was normal for her to defecate once a day, now she is up to 2.

OK, so again, I'm not seeing a brand issue. This started after a year-plus on the present brand, right?
I know how the facts and the timing can be all running around in the head (my head, anyway), with no pattern until I write it all down.
So the urgency and the extra poops ..... these are relatively new, and they would cause me to drop off a fecal for her along with the other one.
But the soft poops ..... this has been a long-time issue, right? On many brands? Has this dog had good log poops ever, or ever in recent memory?

Yes, my concern about it is there may be something wrong with the food itself. Especially with the May recall for salmonella.
I will drop off new fecals for both before my next appointment.
The soft poops have always been an issue with the older gsd on all foods, by soft I just mean fluffy with normal shape and very hydrated. When they hit the ground instead of staying the same shape they sometimes break in 2 (not a clean break) or they plop and slump a bit to an elliptical shape instead of being round. This is the best I can describe it . No good solid poops for a consistent amount of time that I can recently remember. She has always had a sensitive digestion system. Fecals never turned up anything for her.

Ian, you may be new enough not to know how many pictures of poop we have been linked to for examination and assessment. LOL
I kid you not.
And I could not count the number of poop pics I've had emailed to me over the years.
So far, all stills. No video yet, that I recall.

Kimberly have you tried plain pumpkin or this?
http://leerburg.com/form.htm
These both could help firm up the stools.
I have known several people whose dogs had numerous issues with kibble and when the converted to an all natural raw diet, their problems went away. Lori Hall's dog, Kasey ( LB member) is one of them.
Something to think about if you are interested.

If the 12yr old doesnt have diarrhea, I wouldnt try to firm her stool any. Soft is easier for a senior like that to pass.
