If you want to feed a raw diet to this pup I would use a premade raw diet like Bravo. Their 'blends' would be a perfect puppy meal. The bone is ground & organ & veggies are all in there. I usually feed it to young pups along with a homemade raw diet & then transition them over to a whole homemade raw by 6 months at which time & also go from 3 meals a day to 2.
With a pup with such a hard start...I'd keep them on all Bravo until at lest 6 mo. Maybe even in this kind of case maybe to a year. You are trying to undo what was done & give this pup a setup for the rest of it's life with healthy nerve, muscle & skelletal structure. I would also give them some THK (the honest kitchen)along with the Bravo. I use it as a sauce over the Bravo for pups.
There is absolutly NO margine for error in feeding a BALANCED diet to a pup..like there can be with a healthy adult dog. Even moreso with a pup like this. You are doing the pup no favor feeding raw if it is not a perfect balalnce.

ok thank you. I will wait on the raw for now. I dont want to stress about balance. I have given her some kibble with her rice/chicken the past three meals today and no diarrhea hooray!! I have her on Merrick right now because that is what I have here but should get HK next month with my BARF order, unless I can convince my husband to grab some in LA somewhere while he is working. Can't find any local.
She seems like she is feeling better today. Shes being more of a PITA like a puppy should haha. Biting everything and everyone and looking for trouble. I am curious to see what the stool sample says. I know with Capone they never got a positive on the stool sample for giardia, but when we got the appropriate medicine in him it cleared right up!

Giardia can be very troublesome to diagnose. Sometimes a live smear on the slide and it's swarming all over the place - other times it takes repeated samples.

It's going. Diarrhea still off and on. Never a solid poop. Poop sample showed nothing but I requested we treat for coccidia just in case. I don't know why, but my gut says that's what it is. I'm usually right when I get those feelings, so I try to listen. Vet okayd a course of Albon. Today was the first dose. I decided to do a bravo-like raw instead because she wasn't eating her kibble. She would pick at it. But eats boiled chicken or raw with gusto. So I found one here that is like bravo just a different brand. I'm pushing fluids to keep her hydrated. Sometimes using a syringe. She gets dehydrated SO quickly I really have to keep an eye on it. And she's such a Velcro dog (aka german shepherd) that if I'm not standing by her so she can drink she would rather follow me and be at my side then finish taking a drink. If I move from living room to kitchen, she gets up, follows me to the kitchen and lays down. And as soon as I move out of the kitchen she does the same. It's very cute. I can tell she is very much a one person dog. She likes my daughter and husband, but she'll pick me over anyone else. I can't wait to get her little tummy troubles fixed so we can start havig some training fun and get out for socialization a bit more. I may start a blog about our journey together, if I do I'll post a link.
Thanks for checking in. Hopefully in a day or two I will have better news.

I would not feed that pup raw. She likely doesn't have the gi tract to handle it. Perhaps cook for her, chicken, rice, boiled hamburger. Small portions many times per day. Turkey burger boiled. Pumpkin. Cooked egg, crushed shells.
I bet that the Albon helps, if not, try some Metronidazole next.
SMALL portions will give you less diarrhea in most cases.

Don't forget baited water for between meals.
And as a matter of course, every bowl of food, pour a little body-temp plain water over it. Meat-tasting water will NOT be left in the dish.
(Of course, potty trips will be stepped up. All good! Good to flush that little urinary tract, etc.)
I have one who just doesn't drink water as matter of course. Luckily, he's on raw and so does get the water that's present in real food, but still, I use the simple little tricks of a little tepid water poured over his food, a small bowl of either baited water or warm Ice Pups most afternoons, and the water from steaming or boiling supper vegs (unsalted) saved for his bowl.
I stress "tepid" for your little guy because it's absorbed significantly faster. (Cold water constricts blood vessels around stomach.) Plus tepid or warmish water has a more pronounced smell and taste, if you're using baited (or "over the meat") water.
I betcha you are right about giardia or coccidia. What a change it will be for her to have cramps, nausea, and discomfort gone, not to mention irritated little butt.

Not sure if she likes water, but when my Vigo was under the weather (back injury), I got him to drink a lot by filling up his kiddie pool. He wasn't at all interested in water out of his bowl, but he loves to drink out of his pool lol. I also added a good amount of water to his raw meals, as Connie mentioned.

Water poured over meat, as Melissa says ...... pretty much foolproof, even for a water-hater!
Those meat molecules..... gotta lap up every single one!

I was wrong about the meds, it's not Albon it's ponazuril. But still for coccidia. She's feeling better every day, i can tell by how much crazier she gets every day. I think we should know by tomorrow night if the ponazuril is working.
Thank you everyone! I will def do the baited water! I didn't even tho k of that! I've been hand feedig her some of we meals so she learns to take it gently and that I'm a good source of food, not going to take it away. Other meals I just set it in her crate and leave her be. (Did I mention she has a little food aggression?) anyways ill start doing them all in a bowl so I can add water.
Betty- can I just cook these raw patties for her or will that not work? Have a big bag of it.
