As someone that has rescued animals for most of my life, my only mission is the well being of the animal, and to find that animal the best possible home.
There was a posting about a very young GSD, a GSD experienced board member willing to take the pup, and several other members pooling resources to get this pup to that destination. The mission- The well being of the pup, how great is that?
A few short days from the pup being picked up, no medical expenses to my knowledge, I was a little shocked to hear about
an adoption fee. For me, the focus diverted from the well being of the pup to a retail transaction, and now this young pup is offered on CL, how sad is that?
I wish the best for this pup, and hope some examine their true mission as it applies to "rescue."
I picked up a stray last week. He was immediately scanned for a microchip.
Flea and tick treatment $30
High calorie food rolls $10
Regular dry food $20
New collar $5
Low cost vaccine clinic rabies $10
Obiviously I'm rounding but that's still only $75. If a vet visit was involved you could get to $250 fairly easily but as others said that hasn't happened.

Exactly. And the refusal to grant paperwork is at best asinine. Just write something up and sign it. BFD.
Last April I picked up a Std. Poodle (More like chased her down the highway and pulled her out of a drain pipe) and my vet scanned for a microchip within an hour of me calling. I put out feelers with the local breed specific rescues but no dice. Her first bill for everything basic was steeply discounted but if it had not been it was still about $120. She died a few weeks later (Caval Syndrome) and I sunk a lot of money into her (as did my vet as everything was steeply discounted by both his practice and himself personally) and I have never regretted it.
You do what you have to do for something that needs you because you are capable. That should be one of the primary tenants for being human. It saddens me that this puppy will not glean the benefits of others trying so hard for him.
And honestly if you do that much "rescue" not having a good relationship with a vet is just ridiculous. $250 would be reasonable if you'd vetted him or done anything for the dog but you didn't... Ridiculous and selfish.

I am proud to be a part of this webboard. I am honored to be acquainted, although only in cyberspace, with the other members of the group that I speak of. Mostly, I am in awe of how a common love, in this case, our dogs, can inspire such telling acts of compassion, generosity, kindness, and heroism.
I want to second this.
While I was not aware of this effort I have been of others in the past and this board rocks.
I didn't read all your comments although without looking I know they are not kind or understanding. I mean, how could they be because I don't do things the way you would and don't follow all your rules or do things in your version of right. Your way or the way the US does it is not the only way. What happened to an open mind???
I don’t mind everyone here seeing this; I have nothing I am ashamed of here and nothing to hide. You believe I am a lying, cheating thief that steals puppies/dogs/other animals out of the yards of people. If that is what you choose to believe so be it.
There is nothing you can say that will change my view on this. YOU have NOT lived my life. YOU don’t know how many animals I have had in my house or have now. YOU can’t tell me where they came from or where they went. Nor can you tell anyone here if I have indeed asked for anything in other cases.
YOU don’t have any right to tell me if I am doing wrong or right when you hardly know me. Your view of a 22yr old person I am sure is very low. I don’t blame you for this. This is totally silly. Also my saying “whatever his name is” was because as I understood it there were others interested which I knew not about. I never intended ANY rudeness in any way.
There is a big likelihood that you are prejudiced and also have many comments about who I am as a person and religion, as this is VERY common.
I never said what day I found the puppy; you don't know what day I took the picture. You DON'T know much at all so I find it funny you can make such a sure case.
You have your version of the way it should be done and the way it should be. You have made up your mind and I will not change it by saying anything here.
I will not get a credit card for a puppy which can find a home without traveling 12hrs. If you don't/didn't trust me that was/is your problem.
Oh and last: I have worked VERY HARD fundraising for this next trip and internet is not something I can just run and do when I feel like. I live in my father’s house and follow his rules. I also don't have a phone of my own.
The money was NOT for that and you have drawn this conclusion with no foundation. Except that you feel the pup will now be given to someone that is not able to "handle" it properly.
I will not be back to look at leerburg for a long time. This has hurt more than you will ever know. I forgive all of comments here and to follow. I will say no more.
