Ok. So sticking with some grain is ok. I am likely going to switch to Nutri Source because Canidae is apparently changing and the place our club trains at is switching to it amd we get a discount on food there. So I guess I'll just switch to the one that's closest to Canidae's original formula.

Candi, I've already heard about this. The problem is that every single time it's happened he has been in the crate, in our air conditioned house being very calm. Then he just stands up and starts the vomiting. So to me that just doesn't make sense unless it takes significant time for it to happen after he gets excited because sometimes the kids being kids running around or whatever will get him excited. But it's not like he gets super excited for any length of time and gets over heated by any means. It's a few seconds of barking and maybe pawing at the crate for a second.
Okay, got it, thanks Hope this turns out to be an easy fix for you guys, Kory!

That is very interesting,Betty.
My sister had a Great Dane that lived really long. At one point, they had some dietary problems and began the food search.
She ended up doing really well on Pedigree!
LOL, I hear ya, Carol -- Prior to going with Nature's Recipe Lamb & Rice a decade ago, I had very healthy BIG dogs living well into their teens on Pedigree canned & kibble over a period of 40 years or so ... And now I've been enjoying equally great results with the Nature's Recipe

Coming in late on this, my last two gsd's did this, vet diagnosed gerd, I made a point to never let him have a completely empty stomach for long, he was also a grass eater but didn't vomit, once we treated the gerd the grass eating and vomiting virtually disappeared. If he does seem to have other signs with the vomiting Id strongly urge a vet eval, and if you're in a tick area a tick panel, and maybe a lepto test just to be cautious. Hope this is just a minor thing.
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family.

I agree. It may not be G.E.R.D. (reflux), but as mentioned earlier, if it is, it's such a simple thing to do, to keep the stomach from being completely empty via small more frequent meals, and even if it's not, there isn't really a downside to doing that.
