Trifexis is a combination heartworm preventative AND a flea medicine in one--it contains the same medicine as Comfortis. If you are just looking for a heartworm med, low-dose ivermectin is what you want. Heartguard is one brand. Or, you can ask your vet how to use liquid ivermectin for heartworm prevention. But you'll still need some kind of plan to deal with fleas.

+1
It's a step above the topicals (in med/chem strength) for fleas, and I personally would prefer (if possible) to limit chemicals where I can.
This doesn't mean that I think fleas are a minor complaint .... I do not. But if I can manage with less than an ingested med, I do.
thanks for the replies, I guess my other question would be can we give both the parvo and distemper shot at the same time or should I space them out over a week? I just called my vets office and they acted alittle surprised that I ordered my own shots and asked them if they could give the shots to him since I dont have any idea how. They said it shouldnt be a problem, guess I'll find out when I go in this week. They only have something like a 7 way puppy shot and I just felt that he didnt need all the extra vaccines in there.
thanks
Possible you can have them preorder your shots for next time?
I can see why a vet wouldn't want to use a vac you just brought along in with you.
