At this point in time it's "if it has any redeeming nutritional value and won't hurt him in the very short term, then he can eat it if he wants to". Because, well, he has little appetite and terminal cancer so "keep him eating and happy" now trumps regular nutrition rules. I have some THK Zeal on hand that I'd be thrilled if he ate (I'll offer it again today). But if all he wants is dry cat (turned his nose up at 4 different types of canned food so far) food then I'm okay with that.
Thats strange! Maybe theres something he wants in cat food that he isnt getting in dog food?
Well at least he IS eating something!
I will continue to pray for him.

Perfect reason. Understood!
Cat food as a rule is richer then dog food.
Possible soak some into a thin goop and then add that with the THK??
He's now on pred and had a dose of lomustine in the middle of the week. Appetite is still only so/so but he did eat 4 scambled eggs and some cat food today! I figure that for the last 2-3 days he's had about 80% of the calories he needs each day (up from 25%) I started giving him pepcid ac last night as I figured the combination of 3 antibiotics for a week then pred and chemo meds all preceeded by g/i upset had probably left his gut a mess The vet was closed by the time I thought of that but a couple google searches showed that it's pretty safe give along with the other drugs he's one and some places recommended it. Today I gave him slippery elm as well. His attitude remains pretty decent - he gets tired easy but he played ball with my young nieces today and is happy/eager to follow me around when I do chores. it's all day by day right now, but today was a good one!
If he was mine I think I'd push cooked foods rather than raw while he's on the pred. I'd feed him human food, cooked. Beef, lamb, whatever you are having. Spoil him. The pepcid's a good idea too.
I'd forget raw for now. Frankly, I'd forget dog food of any sort for now, unless that's what he craves. Go for tastey and easily digested.
We're not doing anything raw right now (he's been on kibble for the last few years due to the craziness of life). The combo of the chemo he had the other day and the pred makes me quite uncomfortable with the idea of anything raw as he's pretty immuno compromised. He's eating cooked hamburger today. And cat food - that's been the only one constant so I keep some out for him. But he's also tired and anemic looking today. Anemia can be a side effect of the lomustine sigh. He is comfortable and relaxed today so I'll call the vet in the AM and see if there are any options for dealing that at this point.
You will know shortly if he is going to have a decent response. Some get a real "bump", the pred especially can buy a few happy months, healthy months. But not all dogs are lucky in their response.
Beware spending a fortune and breaking your heart stringing it out if there is no response.
