I used to work at a boarding place and there was a senior GSD obsessed with chewing/playing with metal bowls. I would always trade him with a cookie to get the bowl away.
Boxers tend to be pouncers and Tanner is no exception. I had to put my chaise lounge against a wall because he would send it flying. I could control it I'm just happy to see him so happy. Especially since his favorite "toy" to pounce on is his antler for a good chew session.

My Akita, 'Shock & Awe' Shaka would conduct "bowl burials & food funerals" making a MEGA-MESS if she were Allowed To do so (not by moi) -- So during her yearly stay at the Boarding Kennel, my written care instructions always included the necessity of TIE-DOWN food & water containers that Attached to the Wall
Shes not allowed to. Does she still want to do this? Yes. Do I have to correct her and watch her to prevent or stop the behavior? Yes.
Is it right to constanly "get on" a 13 plus year old dog who simply wants to play with what she values as a high reward toy? No. Shes freakin 13 and a half.
Everyday I count my stars she can still remember who I am.
Nevermind the "im boss and control all fun and how you like to play".
Shel have her chews and water bowls til she dies.
Just thought somebody might have a nice laugh at how they had a dog who did this also.
My dog threw a bull horn chew at my tv.
This is my life.
Who else has a toy tosser? What has your tosser trashed?
My guess, "and I'm just spit-balling here", is that Most Folks don't really think letting their Dog TRASH The HOUSE is much of a Laughing Matter (???) But "to each their own", LOL
You get the behavior that you demand from your dogs.
I would not tolerate that kind of behavior in my home. Then again, I have never had a dog or even a puppy even think about doing something like that.....and I have VERY high drive working dogs. They get lots of 'work' & when they come into the house they want to just crash onto a bed & sleep.
My dog has to many toys and the like to count. Never are they used if I'm not the instigator. Even consumable chews are used sparingly and only if i am involved some way or another. I dont care how old or young a dog is, doing that in my house is not tolerated.
I have showed this entire post to every single handler in my club. Recommendations of what I should be typing back... I cannot type here.... But I did get a lot of reassurance from a lot of great people.
Have a great day all.
My dogs have nylabones and hooves to chew on. When they're bored, they lay quietly and chew. They'll wrestle and tug a bit in the house but I make them calm down if they start to get too wound up. They get to go crazy outside - try it indoors and they're told to settle (which they do). The 7 m/o is getting pretty good at quickly getting calm on command.
A difference in opinion is not a personal attack. Don't take it so hard when people post that they don't agree with you.
Some are looking at their own dog and imagining the destruction a few minutes of toy tossing could cause. You may know that your girl isn't likely to smack the TV with enough force to break it while they're thinking of that nice dent in the house siding that their dog put in.

Precisely, My old dog smashed a glass door to peices with a toy. Spent 500$ fixing her up and another Couple hundred on the door.
