Thanks Kelly
So right on the guidance! She has had zero, and don't blame her for wanting ultimate freedom from the crate. Today she has been in it 3 times when I didn't feel like supervising her, and she has gone in without a fight, and is currently napping in it now while I get chores done

Oh, and to stop the leash biting..I soaked all her leashes including the slip lead, in bitter apple..not an attempt since I did that..highly recommend that stuff!!
Saved me from correcting it myself

I've made similar experiences with the crate like you (in my case kennels). I think I tried to accustom them too quickly, gave them treats, closed the door, not for a long time I thought, but probably it was too long. They didn't feel comfortable.
Later on I trained a few exercises which they love and also played in there, sometimes also gave treats. The door I left open, but they didn't run away. After a while I could close it without problem. Of course this time just for two or three seconds, then increased gradually. All with marker training of which I'm convinced like Bob.
Meanwhile I can say: "Socks, kennel!" and she goes in right away. Same thing with the other 3. This works without exception in the evening, bedtime. Unfortunately during the day some times, sometimes not. Probably they've more important things to do. Then I have to put them in to it with the leash.
I really wonder why in the evening 100% and during the day about 50/50. Is this because in the evening they have adapted themselves to a strict rhythm? Though they are called to go in not always at the same hour. I'd very much like to achieve that they obey each time immediately. But how? Am I too impatient with wanting to achieve that goal?
Perhaps, as Kelly says, I have not yet enough guidance and leadership.

Christina, I am sure going back to marker training will proof up the crating!
My issue was a leadership one. She gave up that fight now. I have zero issues now with her going in the crate, and she is sitting at every door, and waiting for a release before we walk out the door the grunmbling has stopped completely, and so has the biting. I hard correction fixed that. She know I am serious now, and I think realizes this isn't Kansas anymore! LOL
Jazz on the other hand is starting to treat Jim like he did me. I think the newness wore off real fast, I think he thought he would get more out of Jim than he did me.
I am so glad things are settling down here nicely!
Welcome back Christina!!

Thanks for the welcome back, Becky.
So happy to hear that Jazz has found his way to treat you and Jim in a fair and impartial manner! I bet he's doing this out of a well thought through reason. Clever dog, he wants to avoid jealousy between his two leaders. (Just joke).
Might also be he is in a decision-making phase whom he will prefer in future. Very thrilling story! Can't wait to hear about the continuation.

Hm-m-m-m, I finally noticed that you live in CHURCHILL, Manitoba -- Maybe good ol' Jazz wants to live with one of those famous dog-loving Polar Bears up there who play with huskies ... Whenever I see a video like that, I always imagine the Mama Bear scolding, "Haven't I taught you NOT to play with your Food?"

I love the sense of dry humour of both of you, Becky and Candi. Continue like that and the next animal I'll acquire will be bear. (Or at least a dog who looks like one.)
