I am loving the new addition! You both are lucky to have eachother!
We all have that one that can be too much...mostly it's me lol!
Hopefully everyone is recuperated!
Congrats on the new family member!
Is anyone else getting a error 403 on the forum?

I started to say no, I have not had any error codes or any problems of any kind, but just now, in typing this reply, I got the 403 code the first couple times I tried to post. Let's try it again and see what happens.
eta: Yep, third time was the charm.

I love to see horses scratching each other. "I'll scratch your neck/back/rump, if you scratch mine." I'm not sure if that's what they're doing in the photo, but it looks like they could be.
Yep, that’s what they are doing. Mutual grooming is a way horses show affection. If I turn my back on them, they will rub my back with their upper lips, too.

Yes! My last horse would do that. If I was grooming her, she would reach around and scratch my back, too. We had to send her to the Bridge in 2015, and we elected at that time not to get any more horses, but I do miss having them around. I was born a horse lover, and I always will be.

More stuff,
Hello all. Windy, blowing snow. 23 feels 9. WNW blowing 18, gusting to 40?
My daughter dropped off her two GSDs, Zuzu and Axel. She works from 1400 hrs to 2200 hrs. today. Fortunately Poppy and Titan get along with the other two. The tZ and A are outside in the elements, running around like maniacs. Fun to watch.
Poppy, the little hound mix, is like a gazelle bounding through the snow. I wish I had her energy.
On a storm watch until 0100 hrs tomorrow morning. All and all, an easy winter. Probably a third of the snow YTD of normal years. Gonna be a dry summer if the rain doesn't compensate.
I was thinking of posts when Mr. Frawley would weigh in. Always informative and to the point. Must be a moment of nostalgia on this blustery day.
I hope all are well. I should get another dog...
Mike

Hey Mike,
Weather for sure is crazy and has been for most of this year.
Always a good thing when all the family dogs can get along.
I've entered my Standard Poodle Quincy in AKC FastCAT races in April. I still keep telling myself "Yes, you really do have a Poodle". Started going to basic obedience classes also. Starting at the very basic beginners class simply because I haven't been in a class room situation for close to 20 years so start withe the basics. He's light years ahead of the rest of the class but "I" need the fresh start.
Fast CAT isn't what it sounds like . It stands for Coursing Ability Test. It's a straight 100 yard run after a moving lure. It's a timed event then mathmatically the time is converted to MPH. Dogs are handicapped by size and the dogs can earn titles not bby winning against other dogs but you earn 1 point for every MPH and those accumulate points for different titles.
I believer Quincy is faster and quicker on his feet then either of my GSD so it will be interesting.
Bob

Hi Mike and Bob and everyone,
It was snowing yesterday at my daughter's house, too. Both daughters, actually ... NJ and MA.
I love having multiple dogs around who get along!
Bob, I have a Poodle friend, and she's so darned smart ... and funny, too.
Fast Coursing Ability Test sounds great. Do you have to drive far away to do it?

They have the FastCAT all over. This one will be at Purina Farms about 45 mins from the house. Great place for MANY dog events. Missouri Earth Dogs, the club I belonged to when I was active with my terriers still holds den trials at the site, I helped dig and build the first tunnels there many yrs ago. Also where I did some of Thunders herding training.
Funny Poodle? Quincy is the "happiest, funniest, goofball dog I've ever owned bordering on bat $#!t crazy. He matches any of the five different terrier breeds I've owned for energy.

Just got another inch of snow here today, and now 40s and 50s the rest of the week, so mud season is upon us…. I am impatiently waiting for decent footing conditions to take Andi out for a ride and really see what she can do.
A friend who breeds Curly Coated Retrievers did a breeding and I was down for a pup. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like it took. We are looking at maybe trying again in July. I was disappointed, as I have loved this breed since the 80s. Her bloodlines are very much worth the wait, so fingers crossed for July! I will be going to some hunt tests this spring to see if it’s something I will want to pursue with the pup. I have no experience at all with hunt stuff, so I’m excited to learn new things.
Fennec will be turning 8 on the 19th - her gotcha day was on the 6th. Can’t believe she’s been with us for 5 years already. She has not slowed down a bit!

We've had a number of crazy shifts in the weather here this year. Hopefully the next week or two will get us changed arouond a bit.
I've not had any exposure to the Curly Coat but being a bird dog it should be really nice to work with.
