Anyone wanting the address to send a care package please Private Message me for the address.
The handlers could also use a few things as well.
I have addresses for both Operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
A very SPECIAL THANKS to all who have contacted me.

Thanks in advance for the response from those who have PM'ed me on this.
Butch and I have coordinated our efforts, and I am handling the MWD unit package for the Marines; he's doing the AF and other units.
I have the support of a store that is providing a gift certificate. I'm using it to buy whatever stuff is still needed (toys, chews, etc.). If you want to put in something for the package, I recommend that you purchase it online through Ed's catalog.
The specific request from the SSGT to whom I spoke this morning was:
Jutes/Tugs (prey items are high on the list)
Kongs
Tracking items or training equip.
I would also think that cloth bowls would come in pretty handy-anything lightweight and portable for field use.
For those of you who want to send letters to the Marines, we'll do it this way.
1. PM me, and include your email address.
2. I will respond by email.
3. You will forward your letter to me electronically, and I'll print them for inclusion in the package. (Yes, ladies, this means you'll have to keep it clean  ).
I'd like to have this thing in the mail by early next week.
Thanks to all of you. Your dedication to this project speaks volumes about your character and patriotism.

I have coordinated with Ed (thanks again!), and for those of you who are ordering through him, make sure to let his staff know that it's for the MWD package. He will hold these purchases until Monday, at which time they will be forwarded to me at my office. I'll combine them with the items I have here, and send them on to the Marines.
This makes it as easy as possible for everyone to contribute something by just spending a few minutes shopping online or by placing a call to order by phone. It has the secondary benefit of ensuring security of the package (and providing peace of mind to its recipients), because we know it has only been handled by LEO's and agencies.
You guys are great! Thanks again, and I'll post a list of what we sent on this board some time next week.

I have sent my package out today. I had a bunch of extra toys still in package that I had put aside for my two GS. I hope the package gets to the K9 unit. I put LEERBURG on the package. Thanks for posting the address.

Iain Pedden will be forwarding a package to the USMC in Iraq. Please contact him by PRIVATE MESSAGE also for details.
There are not enough words to convey my THANKS to ED, without him this would never have gotten off the ground.

Butch, thanks so much for the info via PM...I'm in the midst of finishing a box for Iraq and one for Afghanistan as well, including some socks and a cot pouch for a handler, or whoever can use them. Makes it feel like Xmas around here!

Besides donating items myself, I made up a flyer and gave it to several pet stores. They said they would be happy to donate, but still need to check with corp office. They didn't seem to think that would be a problem. I will be collecting all within the week and sending to Iraq. Hey, the more the merrier.

I went about the same route, I contacted our local paper to see if they would do a human interest story, hopefully to get some more local support and we're contacting the local pet supplie stores as well (offer them free advertising in the story and you know you'll hook em). I've already got friends that have contributed either toys or cash from around the US and we're sending off our first shipment this Friday or Saturday!
