Practice ain,t the same as race day
I agree 100%, but the cop had to just about hang the dog to get him to out. The worst part of the whole thing was the film was from another cars dash cam. How does the public get ahold of something like that? It could be a good training film about things that can happen in the heat of an arrest but to get on a tv video show, you guys have a hard enough job without that.
violence starts where knowledge ends
I also agree with this statement. The guy in the car was to stupid to listen to the cops when he was told to get out.
I have tried to take advice from the wise Vince P.. If you don't know anything about PSD stuff, and are not a PSD person, you should stay away from the PSD threads because you sound stupid when you are talking about something you don't know dick about.
Having said that I will now do just what I have been trying to avoid because I think it is a good idea now.
Some dogs that are 100% solid in their OUTS in training will not OUT clean in a real bite like the one described. There are a lot of dogs that will only bite a few times for real in their lives. I don't think it is the end of the world if the dog had to be lifted off the bite by the handler. There are things to consider before we bash a K9 team that none of us know anything about. Did the handler even give the OUT command or did he walk up to the dog to help control the subject or to support the dog? Who knows. . . ???
Why doesn't someone start another thread about outing police servie dogs if you guys want to continue to discuss this.
