It's easy enough to do your self. You can hire containers through Synbiotics (ICG) etc. Cut out the middle man and save some money <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
The biggest issue for us is what the owner of the stud is willing to provide. One semen collection will give about 12 straws. 4 straws on average are used for each AI. Some stud owners are only willing to send you 4 straws. This is just not good enough as the success rate with AI is NOT as good as live matings. Each attempt costs approx $500 US. If you miss out then the stud owner owes another mating. Only problem is it costs about $1500 to ship it. Then you have to reapply for a permit and the dog has to have a new collection taken etc. Not only that but we pay for the vet bills for the semen collection so the owner of the dog cannot claim the other straws for themselfs. So it does sometimes give cause for headaches. If they do send you all the straws and you are a very lucky person you could get 4 litters from the 12 straws yet you only paid for one. One interesting way of doing it has been for stud owners to look at it differently than selling a mating. Look at it as selling straws of frozen semen which you pay for per straw, ie $100 USD per straw and you buy how many you want. If you miss and don't get a litter then that's your problem, but if you get more than one then good luck to you.
I guess it's up to the two parties to come up with an aggreement for.
