I just got this picture in my mind of VanCamp trying to dip his dogs in liquid latex <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I know that isn't the stuff you are talking about... I think it is called Tool Dip, but it is the same stuff... just sold in a different kind of shop <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
I've used the tool dip on my tools. That is some serious stuff.Dogs gonna loose lots of skin and hair. Maybe wrap the dogs feet in saran wrap first. Then you have to figure out how to keep them on.-----Hell, just by the damn boots like Tiggy says! Mushers probably got this down pretty good and have tried all the home remadies.
It's not tool dip, it is more like the stuff that Dr. NR (Shepherdgirl) here mentioned. It peals away from skin with some effort.
For snow and ice and hot roads etc etc etc. . . use the boots.
I'm just giving this tip out for the disaster dog crowd. I should have been more specific. . . It is something that you would do in an extreme case, not for everyday running. . .I know. . .off topic.
Deanna, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Had to get this off top of Topics. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
If you are using booties you have to be careful if your dogs have dewclaws as if the velcro slips down a bit and presses on the dewclaw you can get a nasty abrasion under the dewclaw. You might have to pad it with moleskin. We usually remove front(and rear if they got them) dewclaws before day five. I do have dogs that have front dews but you just have to be aware and check them for problems.
