Since were having a fess up session ill join the band wagon and tell how you can fit 2 gsd's in a king size bed and still not have to meet them in the night!!!!! There would be three but i don't sleep through fights that well <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
This is only allowed when they are clean and brushed, i make enough mess of my own without cleaning their hair up aswell.
As for the who's boss issues tall i have to say is "move your ass over" and i get more room in the bed for streaching out <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I have to agree that if you have set the rules first about who is boss in all other things than you should not have a problem. All ive got to do now is teach them to sleep on my feet in winter so i don't freeze and find a man that would understand that when i say "move your ass over" that goes for him too!

NB: Vancamp, I though i was the only one that woke up grumpy enough for the dogs to avoid till i have a coffee! Got to love us morning types!!!

My GSD either sleeps on the couch in the living room or in our bedroom beside the bed, but not on the bed. If it were only up to me she’d sleep on the bed if she wanted to.

Tiggy, you made me laugh!! I had a very funny image in my head of all the huskies curled up around the bed taking up all of the floor space!

Personally though,I'm with Van Camp.My dogs are NEVER allowed on the bed or furniture. The only time my dogs are allowed to wake me up is if there is a bathroom emergency( or other emergency). I personally do not want dog hair in my bed or on my furniture. It's impossible to keep it off the floor,but I can live with that!!( Got my self a very good vacuum!! LOL )

My female Bella was caught recently sneaking nights on the couch after the rest of us were sleeping. I spread toys on the couch that next night to keep her off and so she switched to the chair and a half!!Well,after she was relegated to the hallway(doggie gated) for the next 2 nights.... she got the hint and kept off the furniture! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Usually she sleeps in the hall outside the entrance to the kids bedrooms, and Nero sleeps in the crate in my room.He LOVES that crate, as soon as he knows that I'm going to bed he runs to his crate!!

Well after reading this board thoroughly for the past month, I must say I was surprised by the answers to this question.

Although I felt guilty putting my GSD downstairs, in her little room in her crate.....I may now allow her to sleep in the bedroom and crate her when I am not her. Or am busy in the house and can not watch her.

My two older Borders sleep in the kitchen on their own mats. The JRT(dominant SOB) sleeps in my 18yr old sons bed.They growl and snarl at one another all night.

Both our GSD male and female Akita are allowed in the bed. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> Allowed means only by command from the wife or I. We have yet to catch either in the bed without consent. They both have their own bed on the floor in our bedroom.

If you can not control your K-9's in your house, you have more problems to worry about then where they sleep. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> :rolleyes:

You have to have control of yiour dog wherever it is at all times, beedroom no different then anywhere eles. Those that wish to keep them out so be it, those that want them there keep control.

I cannot imagine how you GSD/ retriever people even begin to sleep with all that hair. I say no dogs on any furniture or in the bathroom. I didn't mind my old Rott sleeping in the room as long as he was on the floor. If he had a long day he would snore so loud I would put him out and close the door. He actually preferred to sleep in his den (the crawlspace under the stairs). When I had overnight company of the female kind he would whine until I would let him in the room. Guess he was some kind of a peeping tom. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

You have to improvise if you let any dog in the bedroom. Extra cover over the comforter, vaccumn twice daily, this is for the whole house.
The GSD is bad(I think Lonny called them a German Shredder, That is a good term) The Akita is -3- times worst, looks like sheep are being sheared when she sheds.

We do go through a lot of vacumn cleaner at our house. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Small cost compared to the protection and compfort my wife when I'm away!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Dogdaze, Dogs getting in the bedroom or bed has never caused any problems at our home. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Keeping my new pup in the kennel hasn't gone over to well. That's where she will stay! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Our house cleaner sometimes makes comments about the dog hair, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> that's why she has a job.
