I'm glad you feel strongly about that. . .and I'm glad I don't.
If I felt the need to bring that conversation to the table every single time anyone mentions breeding or health issues related to a spay. . .I'd want to shoot myself.
How would I ever have a conversation about breeding or legitimate health concerns?
But, like I said. . .I'm glad there are people who feel the need to push it, cuz there are a lot of jackasses out there who -F- things all up.
Don't really know if that is a necessary topic to ALWAYS bring up on THIS board. . .that doesn't get a TON of lame ass pet dog owner traffic. . .but hey, I'm glad Lauren cares. . .even though it does bug the ever living hell out of me.
Carolyn, It is your decision whether to "Spay or not to spay". What is of importance is that you know how to recognise when she is in the beginning of her first heat cycle. In ref to the "messiness" you had mentioned..........Some females bleed more than others/ Some tend to clean themselves up better than others.I am destined to NEVER have white carpet!!! lol If you decide to not have her spayed...Make sure you record the dates of all of her cycles so that you can protect her and also to see if she is cycling on schedule. Since she is your first GSD, Please do not make the mistake that some people do by over feeding. She will be growing at leaps and bounds..The added stress of unnecessary weight has a direct effect on her future structure. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I will do my best for the dog. I will not have the dog for another year or so - I am researching everything now. I know I will make mistakes - but I am trying my best to minimize them.
You should see the amount of information I have! I have not even started buying Ed's videos next - those are next.
