One more thing I should have said. Dog training is something that you never stop learning about. Im still excited about learning something from anywhere I can. Im glad that I have the background that I learned from Tom Rose.
Anybody who says my certification means nothing is just somebody who, "just dont know" or somebody who feels threatened by it.
Stop making excuses for your dog and start training it!
That was my point from the newbie perspective... I can learn a good foundation at the TRS or TCA without having to take 20 yrs to do so, and you brought up a good point of people possibly learning some training incorrectly and having to relearn something later after they have screwed some dogs up. I am not saying the schools are an end all, but if you have the time and money to go to TRS and you want a career working with dogs prior to the age of 40 that you can possibly support yourself on(being a civilian), then it seems like a logical step.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I think the TRS still does offer the Master Training Course... it is mentioned in the tuition section. The Professional course is 20 wks and the Master programs is additional 12 wks on top of that. I would think living on the campus and focusing on nothing but dog training for 8 months straight would give a person a strong foundation to work on. In my opinion, its seems more logical if you have the time and cash to do this than to hope you get good training in the next 20 yrs while working your regular job.
Ken,
Since you asked about uneditted footage from the Flinks seminar, I just remembered something.
If you come to a Leerburg Flinks seminar, Ed has a DVD lecture of about 6 hours of Bernhard going over his concepts. It's raw footage, there's wind noise and other distractions that you won't find on the Leerburg professional grade video's, but the information is great.
Now all that you need is for Ed to hold another seminar with Bernhard.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

David Morris.....what did you like about the training? Was it worth your time and money? Tell the pros and cons please. I'd like to know more. I went to the Triple Crown website and was impressed. Again, tell me more please.

Forgot to mention.....
How do you know when or if you have the mentality of a dog trainer????
Whenever we are at a place with many many people, I am unconcerned about the people and goings on, I look mainly for dogs in the crowd like say at an airshow or fair. I am always seeking out dogs at these functions, wanting to meet them, and pet them, also giving out advice for answers to questions....of course giving out the addy for Leerburg. I love demonstarting the correct way hold a leash, give a left-right correction, hand signals, and just general ways to appear as the "Alpha" in the dog/owner relationship.
I can justify in my mind the $13,000.00 for a 12-16 week course at Triple Crown in TX, just bcause I want to do it, but does it really justify itself???
I feel like given the chance, I could train dogs all day every other day. I feel I could run a facility for training, but would not be interested in having a running kennel as that is just "too much" for me in my mind. Kinda like grandkids....they're great because you get to send them home with their parents.
