Just my 2cents on staying in Menomonie. I went to the last seminar in October. I originally had reservations at the Best Western only to find that it was very run down in my opinion, I was able to cancel luckily and stayed at Motel 6. Your best bet for the nicest/most affordable is the Motel 6 which was very modern and they accept dogs as well, even had a computer with internet access for like $5. There are also other nice hotels, but they were wanting like $99 per night for a single.
Ditto on the Motel 6 recommendation. I have stayed in a LOT of them- and only have had one bad one- years ago in Columbus OH.
At the FL seminar I was able to get the room with a kitchenette at the weekly rate for the same amount as if I had stayed in a regular room for 5 nights. When you feed raw- a fridge is a very good thing.
Anyway- thats where I will be.
Another good dog motel is Red Roof. They are a little nicer- but owned by the same people as Motel 6.
Thank you to both Luke and Deanna for the hotel recommendations. There are few things worse than traveling a long distance only to find that your hotel sucks.
Although the time that I ended up booked into a hotel that turned out to be a guest hotel for a gay pride march comes to mind.....and of course, I was traveling with Fetz to further complicate matters....*sigh*
Those guys were sharp dressers, though! Apparently, Leather chaps look like scratch pants to some working dogs...
Hey guys,
the Best Western is in the process of a major remodeling so hopefully it will be 'spruced up' by the time the seminar rolls around.
Ed and I will go over and check it out soon and give you an update.
The Motel 6 is fairly new and quite nice though, as Motel 6's go.... (I have stayed in some questionable Motel 6's in my dog travels..)
I can't wait til the seminar, the entries are starting to roll in....people from coast to coast too.
Hello to everyone! Just wanted to give a reminder that Pre-Registration and Pre-Payment is required. We are approaching the "half full" point for accepting people who are bringing dogs. If you are planning on attending it is a good idea to send me your Printable Seminar Registraion form to hold yourself a place. You are welcome to pay later, just not too much later! I see a lot of you posting messages that you plan on being here, but I don't have you registered. If you have questions please let me know at book@leerburg.com . See you all soon!
Only space for 5 dogs left!!
Cindy has just informend me that we only have space available for 5 more dogs. Most everyone who is registerd is planning on bringing a dog to work with Bernhard. We have counted the number of pre-registerd dogs and we are just about full. I can only accept registrations for 5 more dogs. We will continue to allow people to register and attend, just without bringing a dog. If you plan on attending and wish to have your dog worked, you need to contact Stephanie at book@leerburg.com right away. This is a "First come-First Serve" basis, no exceptions! Everyone is required to be pre-registered and pre-paid. You can call with any questions at 715-235-6502 or check the website for information at the Seminar Page .
As of today, we only have two openings for our upcoming Flinks seminar for people who wish to work a dog. If you would like to come without a dog, there is still plenty of room. We have to limit the number of dogs participating in order to be fair to everyone. This is a 5 day event and while Bernhard is a workaholic with the dogs, we need to get done each afternoon/evening at a reasonable time so we can all make it thru the whole 5 days without keeling over !
All participants must be registered in advance and pre-paid as we won't be taking registrations and payments during the seminar. I can't hold spots on our registration list without the paperwork filled out and payment received.
Also, this seminar is over a holiday weekend so if you don't have your hotel reservations made yet I would advise you to do that soon. Menomonie is a small town with limited motel availability...
