Can you post the book info here, or PM me it. I don't have any problems with my dog but this is an interesting thread n I'd like to know what book it is lol.
I would be interested to know about this book too.

It's an old book, it's full of typographical errors, and it uses a few outdated terms. But I remembered that the guy (whose philosophy I liked, generally) specifically addressed special-problem dog training......that's why I PM'd about it. His name is William E. Campbell, and he wrote a LOT of books, similarly titled. I don't want to post recommendations for books on a public forum; web sites are free and books are not. So if you look him up and want to check out his books (and again, they are old!), then you might think he looks good. I was recommending a book of his I had read years ago because I remembered that it specifically addressed an unusual issue a board member was dealing with. The title is The New Better Behavior in Dogs: A Guide to Solving All Your Dog Problems, and it's at least 6 years old.
Abby has not escaped for 6 days!!!!!! We've been running her more at the dog park to try to tire her out. And no luck on the poo problem. My husband has instructions to clean up accidents when she's not around and reward her for any pee/poo outside. None yet. I don't think I've ever seen anything come out of that dog!
However, I'm very glad that Kelly is reliable.
Abby still has loose stool from last week (she had blood in her stool) when I didn't spend as much time with her because I was working on training Kelly and it was too hot for her to sleep in bed. She still thinks I hate her and is hiding under the table
I got to watch Abby escape. She trotted around the yard a little bit, went up to the property line really slowly, stepped across it very cautiously and then bolted. So she remembers that it's bad to cross the line. And she tests it.
Is it time for an ecollar or invisible fence? How would I approach it?
Maybe we can work on this in the future at Leerburg. For those of you on the board, Anne will be working in our kennel and breeding facility here starting August 9th.
This an old post (about housetraining) that I wanted to update.
I (finally) got Abby housetrained this past fall - when the weather got chilly. I put her in a fenced yard with electric wires around it every hour during the day. If she "went" I brought gave her a treat and brought her inside. If she did not, I left her outside for an hour (she hates cold weather). In about one week, she learned to go potty right away when she goes in the yard. Then I gradually adjusted the times I took her out to fit my work schedule. No potty on a leash yet, but she "goes" right away when I put her in the yard, she's clean in her crate (therefore no more escaping) and o.k. loose in the house when I'm home.
I also tried an ecollar for some offleash training on the escapist issue. Magic!
The hubby is getting better too.
