Glenn - what the heck has this got to do with Todd Screwing people?
Just trying to stay out of the Todd thing thats all. The thread started out talking about DAR, then Todd, then the dogs Todd had and what happened to them.
Interesting about this guy. In reviewing old posts he seemed to be quite active and experienced. In the GSD breeding world what are the "skeletons"? Are all his old dogs sound etc... To seemingly be so involved and committed plus the work I understand it is to breed it is a bit unusual. Any how am I to assume that Dar is O.K? Maybe this is better answered in a PM.
Todd was experienced and was running a nice Dog Training site in the city that he lived in. But his experience was more on the OB side and less on the protection/ SchH side.
But he also ended up with a lot of dogs that would be considered "hard to handle" and you really do need the years of handling many types and levels of dogs to be comfortable with those type of dogs.
Todd did do a good job screening owners in my view and my hats off to him for the work he put into that.
Like VanCamp said, Dar is a great dog, but much of what made the litter that produced Fetz and his fairly Uber siblings came from Mara, who Ed bred.
One of my true regrets is not being at the time and place to have bought Mara when Ed offered her for sale, she was a bitch that you could base your entire kennel line on and make a real difference in an area of the dog world ( and I don't think that I'm blowing smoke with this, I would have a line of ppd's out of her that would have made the world sit up and take notice. Imagine 25 Fetz dogs.....if you will )
I am located in Canada and over 1 1\2 years ago I paid for Mr. Gaster's female named Danu. I paid to have the dog bred to Dar and then I would have the dog shipped to me. I too was under the belief that Mr. Gaster was a good person and had outstanding dogs. I knew that Danu was getting up in years but believed that I should be able to get 2-3 breedings out of her, most likely just two. Mr. Gaster was apparently much too busy and did not live up to his end of the agreement, missing two heat cycles, and subsequenlty not breeding the dog.
I had paid for a female to be bred and now she was a year older and even less usable as a breeding female.
I advised Mr. Gaster that I no longer wanted the dog as she was no longer usable due to her age and he told me that it was no problem and that he would refund my money in 30 days.
Mr. Frawley mentioned skeletons in Gaster's closet........well here it is. He has never paid me my money back, not only that but he has given me every excuse and kept on promising to pay me. I have left a million emails and voice mails and only about 5 have been returned. Gaster went as far as offering me Rocky instead of payment, I did not want a stud dog, and interesting now I hear from posts above that Rocky was sterile........ or close to it.
So did Gaster have good dogs, I believe that he did. But he has screwed me over.
If you know Mr. Gaster, please let him know that I am still here and I am going to keep trying to contact him in hopes of getting my money back. Please encourage Gaster to contact me, you can ask him how patient that I have been, and he will tell you that he owes me the money. Jut tell him to pay.
I just want my money back that he has promised me.
Any help that any of you can give is greatly appreciated.
