Lauren,
I was interested to see that you feed Blackwood too! I have fed my dog this food since she was 6 months old and we both love it! Her coat is sleek and shiny and her stools aren't smelly anymore.
A friend of mine orders this food from the manufacturer direct and she and another friend distribute it themselves. So far this has made it quite convienient for me to get it, but I wish more pet/feed stores would sell it. We have been petitioning the local stores to start carrying it. Before now, I had not heard of anyone outside of our area who feeds it so I'm glad you also like it!
Sorry if I got a bit off subject!

Lauren and Kali,
I know we're still off topic here but if you really like Blackwood here is their website. You can order online and perhaps find other distributors you didn't know about.

Caniche,
Thank you! I believe this is where my friend orders it from. I was very relieved to have found a dry food that is actually good for my dog since I don't have the time or resources to feed raw. She is doing fantastically well on this diet.

Thanks for the information. I will check out the sites mentioned. Kibble is so much more conveinent to feed. Nutro is sold locally, mightr give it a try.

Hey Butch,
When I was feeding Kibble, I did some research on the foods and found Innova had the best ingredients, I was using Nutro until I did the comparison.

Hi there
Read this Book Give your Dog a bone and Give your Puppy a bone These informatic book will tell you why you should feed your dog bone rather than kibbles.

Yes, I have read those books. Unfortunately, not everyone has the resources to feed a raw food and bone diet. I am not arguing that it's no better than kibble--it usually is. I would probably feed raw if I could, but I can't. There is not a butcher or even a chicken farm in our area and it's just too expensive to buy the meat and bone off the grocery store shelves. Plus there is the time element involved.
I am not too familiar with Innova but I do know that it is extreamly high quality and Nutro is at least a lot better than Science Diet. Blackwood actually contains bone meal in its ingredients. It is the next best thing to the BARF diet.

Kali, I used to think the same thing. I recently found chicken backs and necks for 50 cents a lb at the local grocery store in 2 lb packs thawed and ready to feed (they even come in pretty packaging)! They were right next to the thighs, much to my amazement. I'll add other bones as well, but in a pinch I always have an easy meal down the street. This is a chain grocery store so it isn't impossible to find food when there isn't a local butcher. I plan on making the veggie mush and freezing it so that I only have to do that once a month. Not ideal, but better than kibble.

Lauren,
What's the name of the grocery store that has the backs and necks? I have never seen that around here though I've searched hard. If this is a chain store, perhaps I can locate one in my area and can check it out!
Thanks
