I have served with both Smith and Cardona. Both are damn fine soldiers and dog handlers. I am here today because of Smith and his heroic actions.
For those that do not know with out getting into to much Soldiers do not do anything unless they are told. I worked the Prison in Afghanistan and I can tell you a heck of a lot whose has happened to prisoners. Getting barked at was a day off. I do feel that the media in there lack of patriotism has once again blown this way out of proportion. This was Military Intelligent’s ball game and I can promise you that is the dogs where used they where told to be there. You just don’t stroll into a Maximum Security Prison with your dog and act a fool with out being invited. Both Smith and Cardona are being thrown to the wolfs to cover some Officers butt. Nothing more. I think it is a disgrace to treat and to publicize such a cowardly act like this. Taking two very seasoned war vets out of combat and off of the front lines is just insane.
It doesn’t matter if you agree with what is being said or not you have to know the whole truth and unfortunately the general public never will. All you will remember are the names of two handlers that are and where put on trial for some stupid trumped up charges and set a blaze to satisfy the masses. The General public does not need to know what is going on in a combat zone, the general public can not handle what goes on in war. It is gruesome, Medieval and down right inhumane in most case. Ask the hardened vet that just got back how is tour went I bet you won’t get two sentences out of him/her before the subject is changed. Why? Because they want to forget about what they either did, show or heard.
SGT Smith and SGT Cardona are both hero’s and have dedicated there lives to this country and the Army and got Crap thrown in there face for doing a job that they were told to do. I know this for a fact and I really don’t give a rats a$$ what you have read or think you know.
Lets get back to Dog training.
When people get scared they call the police..When the police get scared they call K-9!
Matt-are you yelling at *me* in your last paragraph?!? Or someone else who posted earlier? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
If so, please reread my post. I did not say one thing contradictory to your post.
I am posting to the board in general. There is a heck of alot more to all of this then y'all know and if the whole truth ever got out (which it always finds a way to) then most will rethink their posts. Smith is a good guy and a good friend. I hate to see him go down like this. He has busted his butt his whole career, voluntering for the assignments that most would not take and what thanks does he get........this. God bless America

Ah. Good. I guess I'm a bit sensitive today, but I was quite confused, since I AGREED with you; very few of the members of this board have the right to judge this situation in the first place, and NOT ONE of us has the right in this case, because NOT ONE of us was there.
This isn't really about dog training and I think it's gone around enough. I think we should take Matt's words to heart, as he knows the men in question first hand. His comments make a lot of sense.
