Amber , what an attractive young pup.I love the way your Corgi walk in on the game with out noticing too much, kinda like my girls when one(the 5 year old) is swinging(on the swing) and the other( my 2 year old) walking buy very close ,almost getting hit by her sister on the swing, swinging full force, and my 2 year old does not even notice how lucky she was that her sister missed her by a hair..and the game goes on..
Where did you get the tetherball? I like that, looks fun for the dogs.

Amber, what a kick watching that video. Carbon is growing up beautifully, strong and shiny! Just a note, remember to raise the ball when he gets taller so he won't grab the rope - if I remember my tether ball, the clasp is metal

Good point, Sandy. I'll check that out. So far, Carbon's the only one with interest in the tetherball...my son could care less! I wish I had someone else out there with me to film it when he and I were playing together...it really did look like we were competeing!
We had to clear a little more than a quarter acre of our property that was choked with dying old cedar trees and ivy, and while we were waiting to do spring landscaping, it sort of became an impromtu playground for my son. But, since there's so much space, I've been training there, and we've decided to turn half of it into an agility training field. I'm really excited about that, and it should be a great place to get some good video of Carbon as he matures. This is the first time in my life that I'll have enough space to work my dog on my own property!
I needed to add...For some reason, I posted that he had just turned 6 months old. I don't know why I said that...he just turned 5 months. <headslap>

I had this mental image of you and him playing tetherball together
I really gotta get me some land!
Remembering the metal clasp on the rope and top of the ball gave me visions of Carbon's canine tooth getting caught in the clasp or hook on the ball, which made me cringe, hence the sidenote. I remember about the clasp cause I was tetherball champ in elementary school  Ah, the good old days when kids still played tetherball.

Just checked the ball, and it's safe...the metal clasp is recessed into the ball. Still, it's a good idea for me to keep it up high so he doesn't get a tooth hooked in the rope.
He's so obsessed with the tetherball that today I used it to test him on the "leave it" command. He needs some work! He'd leave it, but only if it wasn't moving too much, and only if I was right beside him.
My dog will be a constant work in progress.

In an effort to divert myself from wedding-related nonsense, I started playing with MovieMaker and came up with the following video of Carbon. Also, Stevin Lepic and I think bi-colors need more play around here!
All of the footage was taken when we were just farting around, nothing formal, so it's not too professional...unfortunately, on the day when we were filming the "real" obedience videos, my fiance had the camera set to the lowest quality setting and we wound up looking like gigantic darkened pixels. It irritates me because Carbon did GREAT in those clips and showed more of what he's capable of than this stuff taken when we were trying to figure out how to use the camera. For example, he no longer swings his butt out on the finish like he does sometimes in the video. Ah, well. He had just turned 6 months in the later clips, so for his age I'm pretty happy with his level of training.
Apologies for those hoping to see Schutzhund work...I know that's always cool to see and I wish I had a club nearby to work with me and Carbs, but alas and alack, I'm stuck with mostly obedience work in my tiny neck o' the woods.
And please ignore the state of our side yard in some of the clips...we're turning it into a training field, but in the meantime it looks like a construction site.
Anyway, here's my puppy Carbon...in motion.
It's short, just the length of a song.

Great job Amber!! It's so much fun watching the little ones go through their paces - he looks like a total SPONGE for obedience!! (I don't know what the command is but I love the way he sticks to you while you back up with him in tow...)
Is Carbon working towards his own SCH title??
More movie updates in a month or so, OK?!!
