Bayley sleeps in her crate, she knows 'bedtime' and she has her stuffed toy and a few cookies at bedtime. Once in awhile after I let her out in the morning and I don't want to get up right away she can snuggle with me for a bit. She just takes up too much room on the bed, seems like she's all legs!! That and my one cat seems to think the bed is his anyway.
Okay, these posts have been hilarious!!!Maybe we should all go on covert night time missions and photograph our dogs in sleep action(inaction) episodes.LOL
I've watched Bayley in her crate and she starts up curled up and then on her side stretched out and that's usually followed by on her back with all 4 feet in the air. That position doesn't last very long.
I'm really surprised so many people let their dogs up in bed at all. It seems like everyone here pretty much follows the general system that Ed puts out in his articles and dvd's so to see the majority of people letting dogs up on furniture, in the bedroom and ON the bed amazed me I admit. On the other hand my dog snores a lot less than my boyfriend.
Ed points out EVERYTHING that you can do to enforce your rank as leader. Most pet dogs don't really need you to do all those things to submit to you.
I let my pup sleep on my bed because he has no dominance issues and is excellent in obedience. The day I see so much as a hint that he's questioning my position as leader, he'll be off the bed and placed in a crate.

It by invitation only, I trained them to get up on the bed and followed it up with "OFF" Its still IAW standard dog training. All food is mine, all toys are mine and all beds are mine. When I was training if I saw a dog on the bed w/o permission they got a correction. Hence the routine of I climb in then they can when I tell them. When they fart or act up its "OFF"
Most nights Remi sleeps on a dog beg at the foot of the bed. Other times he sleeps in the crate, it does depend on the night and if we have guests, etc. He never sleeps ON the bed, and has never even attempted to jump onto it.
