Anyone living in the USA who claims they didn't know of PETA's association with terrorist activity is too stupid to get one cent of my money, EVER. Who will they "accidentally" donate to tomorrow? Al-Qaida? You sold out, Ed, just because you sell and like the product, and that's exactly what they were banking on. They may continue donating to PETA every month for all you know, and simply ask PETA not to mention it publicly any more. I thought you'd be the one person who would find this inexcusable but it looks like you're as "naive" as THK claims to be. Very disappointing. Gee, let's all donate "accidentally" to Al-Qaida and tell everybody "Oh, I didn't realize they were bad, gee, so sorry! My donation was just going towards building shelters for the homeless in Pakistan, one of their 'good' deeds. But don't worry, I'll never do it again."

Diane - what kind of an INSULTING IGNORANT STUPID POST is this?
I suggest you pull your head out of where it is!! and we both know exactly what I am talking about here.
I meant every word of what I wrote and if I did not believe Lucy I would not have written it.
Diane if you ever post anything like this on my web board again you will be gone.

unfortunately, I think the majority of people in the US are not aware of PeTA's primary mission, or their association with terrorism. As a research tech, we deal with PeTA related issues all the time, but until I got on some internet dog lists I did not realize the number of people who do not know, and do not want to know. All they know is that peta helps those poor raccoon dogs in china being skinned alive (and what exactly has peta done other than post the video?). And most of them, unlike the Honest Kitchen people, are not willing to listen to anything other than what they already believe.

People are dumb, then they learn something, then they believe other people are dumb for not having learnt the same thing. Such is the way of the world.

Good Lord! Diane, what a cynical world you live in! I understand hating PETA, but many people who only take a "passing glance" at them don't see under the surface. They see that they are trying to protect animals. They don't see the zealot-side of them. That sort of thing has to be pointed out to them.
I personally have managed to get a friend of mine, formerly a member of PETA, to see what's really going on. She was outraged and is now spreading the anti-PETA message to everyone she knew! This sort of thing has a ripple-effect. Do I think that my friend is secretly supporting them behind my back? No, I do not. She was just ignorant...as most of us were at one point or another. Yes, it sucks that not all people research things completely. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" as they say. That doesn't mean we should wash our hands of them on the first go-round.
But based on her comments...I do believe that they were unaware of the full scope of the situation, and I do believe that they are going to (have, in fact) rectify the situation. THK company includes meat! Why would they ever, with full knowledge, continue to fund an organization that will untimately seek to bring them down? It just doesn't make sense.
And as for Ed...well, I certainly have not an ounce of trouble believing that he would have walked away from them if he did not truly believe they were ceasing all support of PETA. And I also believe that he has one hell of a BS detector. I doubt he would be so easily duped!
If you can only see one view of something, and nothing can sway it, and you won't listen to reason or other possibilities...well then...Be careful, Diane, that you do not become that which you detest.

Everyone...or business, can make a mistake or a bad judgement call.
It is how an individual or company addresses the issue at hand that is a true test of their character and ethics.
I applaud THK for their response to this controversial issue.

Diane -
What is your real reason for being on this board? The only posts you have made are in this thread. I am as anti-PETA as the next person but I can also understand how someone who has not thoroughly researched PETA could be sucked in by their glossy and expensive advertising campaigns.
It takes a big person to admit they did not realize the full extent of PETA's operation and to do essentially a public Mea Culpa like Lucy did. If the anti-PETA folk are so unforgiving and non-understanding there is more reason for folks like Lucy to stick with the PETA crowd who has been nothing but nice to them. Just food for thought.

WOW...
Cynical is right.
I will be the first to admit that I was a little "uneducated" about PETA and I spent hours last night reading and researching.
Don't get me wrong, I never did like them, but I was feeling spongy last night and wanted to learn more.
I do not think any of us sold out to anything. I think that Lucy deserves a chance to rectify this and it sounds as though she is doing just that. I also REALLY do not think they will try to be "sneaky" because that always comes around to bite you in the a**.
I think Ed is being fair and if it turns out differently then I am positive he will do something else.

I had never even heard of PETA before joining this board. I also imagine that most people had never even heard of Al-Quaida either before 9/11! Cut the poor woman some slack. The one person on the board that actually knows her, calls her up and asks what's going on in order to get a clear answer and give her the chance to clear the air, then he gets a blast of shit like that? I don't want to sound like anybodies mother, but I think somebody owes someone an apology.
