Bad News...they placed the dog.
I got an email from them just now.....I did tell them that if the new owners had any issues to contact me right away and they agreed to do so.
She also said she would email me the new owners contact info, so we will see if she does, and that the new owners were made fully aware of the dogs issues.
She was very apologetic that they did not recieve my emails sooner. I am sure they placed her this weekend.
I will contact the new owners and offer any help if they need ever need it. This is one dog that i would like to keep tabs on, not because of her ability to work (because it is not that great) but because of her ability to be aggressive.

You did what you could - without having even been invited to help!
You get big props from me for sticking with them and making contact with the new owners, offering your support. Lets just hope the new owners can either handle the dog's behavior appropriately, or know enough to ask you for help - the last thing that dog needs is another person beating her...
Good work Carol.

Carol, bless you for stepping in !!!
Do you already own Ed's DVD on Dealing with Dominant & Aggressive Dogs ??? It's a God-send -- and his Goundwork article is TOPS (talks about a 2-week protocol with adult adoptees -- put off ALL non-essential interaction, including any obedience work, while the new dog is kept kenneled 24/7) for a minimum of 14 days, particularly with a human-aggro K9.
Edit: oh well <:-( maybe you can give the new owners the above info about Ed's article and DVD...

Yep I have that one, among others.....Bloodhounds are not a new breed to me and most of them have "quirks" that need to be managed.
Most aggressive dogs that come to me have their initial Isolation time. They are fed, watered and cleaned up after until I get the "please, I will do anything for you, just let me out" look from them. Usually a week to two weeks.
Thanks for the info though

You done good, Carol. Very very good. Thank you for getting involved. I just hope the dog is now owned by people who know something about dogs and who are real people, not bunchers or fighters. She's spayed, so at least she's safe from the puppy mills. Let us know what you find out, OK?

Carol,
I admire your effort and I am impressed by your tenacity. Hopefully, the new owners are a better fit for the dog and capable of doing right by her. I think if they have your contact info and run into a problem, they'll call. Keep us posted if you hear anything....I don't even know this girl but I want to keep tabs on her too.

....
I was so hoping you'd get her.
Now I'm worried. Do post if you hear anything from the new owners. I hope they were really told about the dog's aggression.

I really hope I never hear that from you or anyone else again without concrete proof.
These are excerpts from her last email to me, I am leaving out names for obvious reasons.
When we were having problems with Alie we tried to contact you several times, and when we finally did reach you , you were always too busy, so we went elsewhere for help.
I want to share this part....there were several conversation and there were also times arranged. Yes, the ball was dropped and i will admit this because it is not like I do not have things that crop up, being a FF, EMT, LE, President of a SAR organization and a 40 hour a week job will do that, but when people do not show up at training like planned, take off for the weekend after setting times, or claim they have to work, I GIVE UP!!!
I was up there several times for team training and this is all sent out through email. Is it my fault that they could not get it together? Am I to drop everything else in my life to adhere to thier schedule?
The attempt was made IMHO, and there is only so much that I can do when I have other dogs, handlers, emergency calls and work to do.
Also, putting an ad in the paper for a free, very friendly dog is a piss poor excuse for going elsewhere for help.
Our decision to give Alie away is not only none of your business, but it also has nothing to do with the problems we had with her.
This is my favorite part......I think it is my business knowing what I know and it has everything to do with the issues they were having with her.
You are right.....bloodhounds are not for everyone, neither are leadership postions. I'd thank you for your help, if we had actually gotten any from you, but since we didn't....
This is great also, I guess I need to pull all my phone records to show them the cost of two hour long phone calls to thier home and cell phones, discussing the dog and giving them things to study and work on.
I cannot drop everything for everyone ALL of the time.
It almost makes me feel totally responsible and that they are not......GEESH!!!!!!!
Guess I won't be getting contact info. She must have decided differently.
Makes me want to put an ad in the paper for "Whoever obtained the free Bloodhound from........"
Thanks for the vent guys...... I am really pissed.

Well, Carol, it's just all part of the "not my responsibilty", "not my fault" BS and tapdance that anyone who has ever ever worked in rescue hears over and over and over ad nauseaum...
What you probably ought to do is put word out at the local shelters to notify you if a bloodhound comes in. As she most likely will.
I don't blame you for being angry, but try not to stroke out. Some people wouldn't appreciate a free thousand dollars if you gave it to them, they'd grouse because they'll have to pay taxes on it...and blame YOU if they get in trouble with the IRS because you didn't fill out their tax forms for them, too.

Janice has the right of it here; some people who are drowning complain because the life-raft you toss them isn't cherry flavoured!
You tried. Now, I'm with Janice as well; send the word out to local shelters. Heck GO THERE in person, tell them your credentials, but do NOT mention the original owner. Just say that you are VERY interested in any bloodhounds brought in and would appreciate an immediate call. Maybe take a plate of cookies or bag of doggie treats with you to somewhat grease the wheels.
Luck!
