Will
I just asked a simple question? And i get what are my dog lines? He shouldn't be friendly to people. Do you have him crated? And when i said the best lines. I guess i should have said he has some of the top lines in him so people wouldn't have a heart attack. And no one ever did answer my question except MATT. So i'll just leave it like that and go on. And won't ask another question.I just thought someone might know here. I'll just ask some of my other k9 buddies since my dog just started doing it.
take care
Jerry,
Ok first, i did try to answer your question the best i could with the info you put out there.
You made a comment about your dogs lines, a few people on here are breeders so of course they would like to know more about it. Me, i know nothing about blood lines but am always interested in learning more.
I am sure a lot of people here would love to help you. People asked you some questions so they could give you a better answer. There is a lot of knowledge on this board so don't let this one bad experience ruin everything.
I GUESS NO DOGS HERE DO DEMO'S????????
Yes i do demos. I recently did a demo for KPS (Kosovo Police Service) to demonstrate the capability's of Military Working Dogs. I dont agree with MWD's or Law Enforcement K9's being pet by anyone besides the handler or people close to the dog (other handlers, vets) but thats just my opinion and thats all it is, is a opinion. Some people agree some don't, that might be why you had mixed reaction to your question.
Anyhow i will try this again, if your dog is going crazy in the back of your truck. Can he see out a window or is the kennel to low for that? If he can see out the window does he just bark when he gets to places he knows? Where you do bite work? If so just try driving around so that way he doesn't associate the area's. Now if thats not the case then you might have to use the e-collar along with a "quite" command.
Anyhow i do hope you get the answer your looking for and i do hope you stay on the board, i am sure you have some info to pass along and people can pass along info to you to.

I don't know anything about training LE k9's, but I have seen the K9's in my town being pet by children at an annual kids day thing. They also do a demo of how the dogs work. I don't think they let them pet all the dogs though, only the ones who's temperaments will allow it.

Jerry i'm sure I'll catch hell for this one. You have know learned as I. You may not disagree, or have your own opinion on this board, people get offended. Will is a LE dog man and so is Howard, you may want to contact them privately. Good Luck. PS what does your department trainer recommend?????

People don't seem to be taking exception to disagreement, as much as trying to decipher the context of Jerry's question and why his "tone" is so manic.

People don't seem to be so much disagreeing, as trying to decipher what the context of Jerry's question is.....
Thanks, Steven. I couldn't think of a good way to phrase it, but you hit it right on the head.

Hi Michael
I just thought that everyone was on one page about everything and i was on the back side and couldn't get to my problem. Anyway your right about were i train him he does bark when we go by but i can understand that.I don't want to take his drive of his excitement away from him. But if i'm at a light someone or dog is walking by on the sidewalk he goes off. I can eat at a restaurant and when i drive by he remembers and there is about 6 of them small town here and he starts barking when i go by. And here is the weird part!!! (When i pull up or down on the turning indicator to make a turn he starts barking). I just need to settle him down.
Thanks for your help. And thanks for making me feel better about being here.

see already you have to defend your position. Your questions. Its almost religious. Thats what it is religious, heavens forbid your questions had a demeaning tone. Impling he was incompetant or a green handler, he stated he was a K-9 and the attitude was in his crusier. Then somebody spouts off he should be crated. like some one on this board is writing his departments rules about how the dog is to be trasported. Its always somebody else. Lets end this thread.

It was hard to figure out the context of your O.P., Jerry, but you'll find that there are a lot of very experienced (and straightforward :grin trainers, breeders, and handlers here.
It's a great resource, and I'm glad you're going to stick around.

Trust me Jerry, no one is trying to attack you or make you feel un-wanted here.
We just like a lot of details :-D
