He seemed pretty animated a few moments ago.
Ok, I feel a little foolish... I did do a search on acorns awhile ago and didn't find anything.
Thanks Debbie

Thanks Sue. I'm in LaGrange, so Oak Lawn is pretty close. I know about the holistic vet down state, a few of the people at my club go to her and have nothing but good things to say about her. For me she's just too far unless I have a major issue.

On the bright side: I get my meats at a natural foods store with a butcher counter. Once when he handed over my as-is fowl and ground-up parts, along with livers, etc., he said "Oh, it's you! I thought it was for another customer who orders her dog's food the same way." When I looked surprised, he said "Oh, we have lots of customers who get their raw food here."
A THRILLING MOMENT!!!
cool!
i had a similar moment in the grocery store once....i was in line and unloading all the meat, and the guy ahead of me said 'when's the BBQ?!' (it truly was a mountain of meat). i said 'oh, i'm vegetarian, it's for my dog, i feed him raw' (i'm not a moral vegetarian, i just really hate the taste of meat....all that cutting and chewing for something i don't even like! i'm lazy).
the guy said 'the BARF diet! your dog probably eats better than most guys i know!'
it was so cool, randomly raw-positive

I know feeding RMBs are good. what if I just toss in a bunch of chicken meat with no bones? my pup has been on THK/raw combo for about 3 weeks now. I not gonna do a full on raw and may even go back to kibble (I know, I know). I would like to continue THK/raw combo as long as I can afford THK...lol. hes 4 months old tomorrow so is this a good time to start him on chicken wings?
Clarify by spelling every little thing out. Some people can be extreme when drawing their own conclusions. |

What I don't get is how people( who are omnivores..) that are vegetarians, vegans, whatever.. have problems with even that, hair dying, teeth dying, some can even be infertile ( or so I heard from my old vegetarian roomate, so don't take my word for fact. )And try to make something that is primarily a carnivore, and fix it to a vegetarian lifestyle?
Just even the build of their teeth. If someone picked up a skull from a dog and examined the teeth, what conclusion would they make of what it ate?
They sure don't say t-rexes ate kibble, do they?
It baffles me how some people can't even get over a simple hurdle like common sense. True, I never knew much on it before I came here, but I was fed the whole commercialized idea of dog food like just about everyone else.

with people, it totally depends on the person as an individual and how well they eat a proper diet. i've been veg for 12 years and am far healthier than when i ate meat (had to take iron supplements, etc) - but that's my body and it works for me, it doesn't for everyone.
and it definitely doesn't for dogs. i agree - one quick look at their teeth is enough to show you they should be eating meat. that, and a desire for luc to get the best diet he could, is actually what got me to switch from kibble. he's a dog, he's so obviously built to eat meat, bones, etc - all this grain etc is just crazy to give them IMO.

I wasn't meaning to take shots at vegetarians, sorry if I came off a bit gruff about it. Most of them I've seen have a weird look to them, and my roommate had hair falling out at one point because of her diet. Just my experience with it.
I personally could never give up meats. I guess that makes me weird to some of them. Ah well..

no worries at all! heh, that's the funniest thing, the weird look (i'll stop blaming my parents then )
(your roommate sounds dumb, no offence....hair falling out is time to reconsider things....gross!)
ps....most vegetarians think i'm crazy too! food dogmatic people are boring though.

Yeah, she wasn't very smart with alot.
One of the main reasons I skipped out on her and left her with the apartment. But that's another story.
