I saw in the Alberstons Ad today that they have whole chickens for $.69/lb. I asked and they will cut them in half for you for free. I don't know if they are nationwide, but they are a big chain.
This is the Website of a distributor who delivers to Baltimore, Maryland.
She does pick-up every 6th saturday (about once every other month)
I have not used her yet, but plan to on the next available pickup...
Well, you are all very fortunate, the only meat I can buy is the ready for human consumption meat in groceries. To give you an idea of the price: ground beef costs $3 a pound, salmon $6 a pound.
Cheaper meat, availibility of dog trainers and possibility of joining dog training clubs ...hmmm...maybe I should move to the US.......
Relax, just joking
I have been pretty lucky, I have a gentlemen that raises organic laying hens who is real close by, yes they are not as big and meaty as the meat birds but they still do the trick. He usually gives them to me for free, and then I just pay for someone to butcher them. Usually an Amish lady, who charges about $1.00 a bird.
Also...
I just found another person even closer to me that raises meat rabbits. He told me that he can sell them to me for .80 a pound.
That is where I have been getting raw food for my doggie's
I wonder if I can work out a way to ship some of these things to other people?.........
This small supermarket is located in Quincy, MA less than 10 miles south of Boston. Meat is the main product. I purchased Purdue oven roasters for .39 a lb last week. You can bargain with the butchers at the back of the store for pricing on ground meat. It is actually fun to shop there and I find the selection on meats to be varied and better priced than anywhere else in the vicinity.
I purchase meat chubs from Bon Chien and the company is located in Norco, California. They offer free delivery for orders that are 500 lbs and over.
I also buy meat from a wholesaler in Chula Vista that caters mostly to restaurants:
Am Mex Service Company**
1680 Hilltop Dr
Chula Vista, CA 91911
phone #: 619 426-6992
Can't beat 40lbs of frozen chicken leg quarters for $18.20!
They also have duck, gizzards, turkey necks, beef heart, pork neck bones, liver, pork heart, beef tongue, beef ribs, etc at low prices. A veritable heaven for raw feeders. Heck, for those hardcore feeders, you can have a whole cow's head if you like!
** I want to make a note that the company recent changed its name but I cannot recall. Be assured that the address and phone number are still correct.
