I think it is equally important here to not only commend Karla for taking the pup back, but also to the owners who have decided that the pup may not fit their "family" and they chose to give the puppy up before it was too much older, therefore making the issues that may be present more difficult to deal with.
It must have been a difficult thing to do and I think they made the right decision.
Kudos to both the breeder AND the owners.
Many people out there would try and try and not make progress, ultimately having to place a dog with issues which is almost impossible at best, resulting in shelter placement and quite possibly euthanasia.....

Yeah, I agree Carol. Debbie and her husband are probably pretty disapointed, but this is for the best.

Excellent post, Carol. I was going to say something similar but you worded it even better than I would have. No hard feelings, Debbie...not everyone can handle (or wants to handle) a pup like that and you did seek help. It seems the pup will do well in a working home, and there is another dog (who is a little more cuddly ) in your future, I'm sure.
So it was the right decision, IMO anyway and I wish you well.

Karla,
It's just so vitally important that people do their research before bringing a dog into their home.
Debbie this was nothing against you. I just understand where you're coming from. Our last dog was a Siberian Husky and we did NO research on the breed. Well...she was nothing we expected. We dealt with it but she could have been a happier dog if we were better owners. So now I'm a little obsessed with gaining knowledge and information so this time it can be different. This experience I'm sure will help you find the best match for You and help you to be a better owner. Good luck and don't be too hard on yourself. We're all just trying to do the best we can.

Thank God, that Karla is my friend, as well as the breeder of beautiful German Shepherds. After talking with my trainer and Karla, we decided it best that Evander find a home that fits him. No competent person wants to ruin a dog. It was harder than you can imagine to let him go. I hung around for a bit, and then when I left, I told him that I loved him. The drive home was awful. I didnt have him next to me. However, I know he will be the perfect dog for the right person/family. Our daughter is 6 years old, and was terrified of him. We didnt want any accidents. He needs to be in a home where his attributes will thrive.
Karla's daughters and my daughter are friends and in the same class. We see one another everyday of the week when we pick up our kids from school.
Yes, Karla is a fantastic person. I believe this will all work out for the best. Thanks Everyone, Best Wishes and Take Care.
Have A Great Day,
Debbie

Debbie, I may have missed it, but was this the first dog you've had with your family?

I'm not Debbie, but I'm not sure how often she will be coming here now that I have Evander back.
It was not their first dog, they had one several years ago that died.
She prepared herself for this puppy, paid big bucks for a trainer and started with him the day she brought Evander home, bought everything she needed, set up the house just right...everything.
They just weren't prepared for the little alligator part...and they felt it was more then puppy play. I don't see him as any more mouthy then the rest of the puppies were, or then Delilah is. He is just being a puppy and I think he saw Debbie as his most fun toy to chomp on. Also, their daughter, who hasn't been around dogs at all, was very scared of him. That alone can be stressful.
GSD's aren't for everyone...no matter how much you prepare for one. This just wasn't a good match...not the right breed for them. No one should have a puppy that they are afraid of.

Hahahaha...now, that's not nice Mike.
He is a very focused little puppy...very, very, very eager to please! If I didn't keep Delilah, I'd be keeping him for myself!
