Sch3FH2, Pup doing better on following track. She sometimes by-passes a treat but I let her continue. Biggest problem lately are the high winds. I haven't put down any tracks with high winds. I'm afraid it might confuss her.
What are everyones thoughts on this??? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Sch3FH2, unable to find the frozen Bil-Jac liver. However, They have liver treats that have been working great. They come in small milk like containers.(one container good for one track)
Again thanks to all for helping me not ruin a good pup!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Those liver treats work fine too (just too expensive for me!). I know you've been away some; if you haven't been able to track her much at all, I would probably skip difficult conditions and wait for conditions where you are setting her up for success. But once they seem to get the idea and have good motivation to work the track, I don't mind laying a track in strong winds. I make sure the legs go either tailwind or crosswind, no headwind, and I'll bait the track accordingly. The more difficult the conditions, the more bait to keep the dog rewarded and motivated.
That for replying. That's what I figured, High winds may set her back some.
On the good side of things: Fanni and I are supposed to meet with peter betchly(spelling) later in the week. He is presently training his dog for the FH2.
I haven't meet him, but like you he has given me good info and support. Will let everyone know how we do at session.
Yes, I have been away for a while. Wife seems to be getting the handle on working with Fanni.
Thanks again to all!!
Pup seems to be learning faster then I. This much I figured out before we started training to track. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
I am learning how to properly lay a track,(well somewhat) never would have thought so much planning and foresight went into this part of training.
Thanks to all who have been helping Fanni. (yep she is the one that's been helped) Keeping me from ruining a good pup!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
