Anyway I am thrilled for you, but find it strange that she put the ad back up without calling you first to see if you still wanted him. And isnt her husband still away? hmm... anyway... I hope she does show up and give you the little maligator... he really needs it.
Yeah, I found that strange too. Perhaps she lost my number ... or it was easier for her just to post another ad. I don't know. Yes, her husband is still away, but they have decided again that they want the dog gone by Friday, I guess. I have to call her again to confirm our meeting place at 4:00 and I am really hoping she shows up. That was my first thought, that I might drive all the way there and her not show up, but I am going to try anyway. I really hope it pans out.
If this doesn't come through again, I'm going to be really upset, in spite of my best efforts not to get too excited or get my hopes up. I really want to get this puppy. I feel really bad for him and fear that she'll give him to someone with no malinois experience and he'll be in an even worse situation ... or worse yet, take the poor baby to the pound.
I really hope she isn't just messing with me for some reason. I don't take too kindly to being toyed with. I am normally pretty laid back and most people probably think of me as passive ... but push the wrong button and people find out that I did indeed inherit the full force of my Dad's temper, it just doesn't come out to play very often. Situations involving dogs tend to push my buttons. Being toyed with about a dog that I feel is in a less than ideal situation? That would probably push every button I have.
ETA: her ad is gone again ... I hope that is because I said I will take the puppy and left no doubt that I definitely want him ... hopefully that is a good sign and not a sign that hubby has freaked out again.
Hi Elisabeth,
I've been following your ups and downs concerning this poor puppy! I really hope for a happy ending for you, surely the fact she has yet again removed the ad must mean she knows you will give it a good home and doesnt want more callers.
Im hoping to read the happy ending to this story soon.
It looks like we are still on to meet. I am supposed to meet up with her between 6:30 and 7:00.
I did ask her about papers this time, and she is uncertain if he came with papers or not. No matter ... papers are nice but not necessary. I also asked about the breeder. She said he wasn't associated with a kennel, so my hope that he came from the kennel I linked to is probably not reality. Hopefully I can at least get contact info for the breeder when I pick up the puppy so I can find out more about his lines.
As long as she shows up I will post links to some pictures and let you all know how things go once I get him home :-)
In my humble opinion (and since I don't know the folks or their situation this goes with a grain of salt), the way her current 'owners' are handling rehoming her seems a bit irresponsible. Say yes, then no, then maybe, then re-post an ad without calling you... The pup will be in such better hands with someone stable and dedicated like you!
I can only imagine your excitement When I adopted my two dogs I was antsy for days before seeing them, then made myself go home and sleep on it one more night to make sure before making a decision. You are going to have so much fun!
I'm starting to get worried that she isn't coming. I have been sitting here since 6:30, it is now 7:00 ... she said she would be here between 6 and 7. Not too late yet, I know. But she also said she would call when she was on her way or getting close ... no call yet either.
I am going to give her a few more minutes and then try calling her.
Please don't tell me I drove an hour for her to not show up!
I just got off the phone with her. She is having kid problems and wants me to come to her house. She couldn't remember which phone number in her phone was mine, so she texted all the numbers to call her if it was Becki's number ... I don't get text messages so it didn't work.
Anyway, I'm off for another 15 miles to try and get the pup.
Will post again once I get him if my battery doesn't die ... otherwise, I'll post as soon as I get home.
oooh ... and another thought ... if anybody has any name ideas, he's going to need a new name. Sarg just won't do ... he would outrank little old civilian me!
Ooh! I have a good one! ...AMMO! It would definetly fit him!
Can't wait to hear the news!
