We could all post the quotes from authoritative and respected scientists that support our POV.
The NZ Climate Science Coalition, peopled with strong and respected scientists, was founded specifically to "refute what it believes are unfounded claims about anthropogenic (man-made) global warming."
That is, not to study climate change or lack thereof, but "to refute claims."
My point was that unless we follow the money and the backgrounds behind statements, I'm not comfortable with them. I want to read what the "other side" says about every point, and I want then to compare the experience and relative independence of each.

I agree.
My point isn't to convince anyone one way or the other that man-made climate change does or doesn't exist.
Merely to point out that there is NOT the "scientific concensus" that folks seem to think there is.
Dissenters just don't get the press time, and many scientists are afraid to speak out for fear of loosing their positions.
To claim that man-made climate change is a fact, that the debate is over, (that it is anything more than a theory), that all scientests agree and there is a scientific "concensus", is all untrue.
It'd be impossible for anyone to really convince anyone else away from their point of view, but lets not state that global warming is proven, when that is patently false.

I don't think there are unbiased sources. Do you?
Here is what I do. I use several source watches and who is watchdog groups both to ascertain the missions of the organizations presenting scientific papers and the backgrounds of the founders and the scientists doing the research.
For me, it's a matter of weeding out the obvious blatant biases (is it a funded by Exxon?) and then weighing the remainder by reading what each one says against opposing opinions from "the other side."
