Thank you.
And yes, the evidence about animal murder and abuse being a mere stepping-stone to the same thing done to humans (often starting with children) is pretty much irrefutable.
The arm of the HSUS ( not American Humane) that was formed to provide funds to prosecute animal abusers and murderers is something that gets money from me.
Something else that makes the HSUS Legal Defense arm attractive pro bono clients is they avoid most of the extreme stances and practices that some animal rights groups are known for, Bernthal says. in "American Lawyer."
I read that in this decade, the number of lawyers offering their pro bono services to defend animals against their abusers and murderers and to work with prosecutors in such cases as the guy who was making and selling videos of dog-fighting (dog snuff films, to put it bluntly) has risen 3-fold from the average in the 1990s.

Marcus was on the radio with Glenn Beck again this morning.
If you are a praying person, please pray for Marcus Luttrell. The man is in tremendous pain.

I worry tremendously about this guy.
He's been disappearing into the desert, basically becoming this war's version of a "bush vet".
Withdrawing a little is normal. I have my own basement "bunker" that I retreat to. Running full-fledged into the desert, is an entirely different thing.
I can only hope that those folks that are near to this guy, can step in before this entire saga takes a very nasty turn.
-Those who get to live, should.-

I won't kill another human unless I absolutely have to and I have had to put two people close to that point, without a weapon, in order to defend myself and a friend. I've also had more than few guns pointed at me and even been under fire a few times. So, it's not exactly like I'm an armchair warrior with no practical experience and I'm most certainly not a tree hugger who wants to tickle the inner child of every criminal. (If anyone would like further detail on this paragraph, please PM me.)
Once again, if the dog would've been properly secured it wouldn't have been in the position to be shot. Kind of the same philosophy as not walking around a bad area at night.
Those of us who have survived sustained close combat have a different outlook on the world.
A few scary, dangerous experiences in your life does not a combat veteran make.
You do not, will not, can not have the outlook that Marcus Luttrell has on life.
An outlook gained, by the way, in the process of defending you.
The young men who murdered Marcus Luttrell's dog were trespassing on his property.
They were armed.
They'd shown a willingness to kill and a disrespect for life.
The laws of many states would protect Marcus' actions had he shot them when he first came upon them on his property.
Finally, keep in mind that this dog was not just a pet.
DASY was Marcus' friend, confidant, counseler... DASY was given to Marcus to help him cope with PTSD.
Sadly, his dog is gone, and Marcus has gone to the desert, clearly struggling to keep his PTSD under control.
I always liked this line:
"We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it."

Amen Alyssa.
I can not begin to comprehend what it must be like for Marcus to have "survived" all he has been through, only to now have to deal with these scum bags intruding on his private life in such a violent manner. Scum bags whom Marcus was willing to die for in order to protect their liberties and freedom... There simply are no words to make sense of this situation. For those who believe in prayer, this man is deserving and in need.

One example, a guy who was either a returned Marine or Army and opened up on a ranchers entire flock of sheep, with his fully auto service weapon set to auto, killing or mortally wounding around 3/4 of them.
Scott,
Could you please give me an approximate date and location for the event that you mentioned?
You see, I've been a member of the gun culture for over four decades now, and I've had a class III license for automatic weapons in the past. I am absolutely *amazed* that no one on our many full auto discussion forums or Police forums has ever discussed an event regarding a returning vet using a "fully auto service weapon" in the commission of a crime as you described.
You do know that vets do not get to keep their weapons when they leave the military, right?
If a vet had done this in the past 50 years, I'd be well aware of this event as it would have been discussed in detail many times by the full auto community. I think that the number of times that a fully automatic weapon has been used in a crime hovers around eight times in the past four decades. - and all those weapons were either stolen from a class III dealer or illegally modified by the users ( as was the case for the North Hollywood shootout http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout ).
So again, please fill me in on the details of this event that is strangely unknown to me.

Didn't he (Marcus) say that his dog was in his backyard? Actually I just re-watched it and he does state that the dog was behind his fence. So these guys lured the dog out of the fenced yard. I would think that he was under the assumption that his dog was SAFE & sound. As we all probably do when he allow our dogs in our backyards for a little freedom.
And from what Marcus was saying , the dog was more than just a dog to him since it was given to him when he came back from duty to help him with the mental stress he was going through upon coming home. I know their's a name for it...can't remember it right now.
I do hope they get what they deserve, but I have doubts that they will
Don't complain....TRAIN!!! |
