I read that thread when I first came across this forum and I think that might have been what made the idea stick in my head that mixing was not good. Also, the Honest Kitchen may very well be a good solution for me. It is my understanding that you can mix in whatever meat you'd like but it is also nutritionally complete just on its own. Is that correct?

THK is a great product. I always have it on hand for my raw-fed dogs for travel, for variety when I have been stuck in a rut, and even to mix some up thinner than usual and pour some over their RMBs sometimes.
I second that it is a great product!!! My new dog had problems with kibble and canned foods. Unfortunately, she refuses to eat meat with bones in it. I put her on THK, and she did well, not great but better. I had to blend the powder into even finer powder for her(My other dog does fine without blending) and she is doing great now! No diarrhea, only 3-4 bowel movements a day (compared to 8-10).
You may not need to blend it. Try it without putting it through the blender. It took Lucy approximately 2 days for her bowel movements to resemble normal movements and about 1 week to drop down to 3-4 a day.
