Walter, you just don't get it. Everyone here is trying to be nice & diplimatic & tell you that a dog from this breeding is not suitable for person with your lack of experience & lack understanding of working line GSDs. A pup from this breeding will most likely be like having a loaded gun in your home & just as dangerous if not in the hands of an experienced owner. It is not just a matter of: QUOTE "tell me how and what exactly to prepare for this new add on". This is NOT a beginners type of dog. You will be very likely putting your children, wife & yourself in a very percarious position taking a dog like this into your home. You don't just 'learn' on a dog like this. Please reconsider your decision & look for a more suitable companion for your family. There are many breeders out there with breedings from lower level civil dogs. Also, if you own your home & the dog is too much for you to handle & it bites someone, you risk a law suit in which you can loose your home. At least that is the way it is in the US. Also, some insurance companies in the US won't sell homeowners policies to people that have GSDs. Just some food for thought. JMO

Walter, this is straight from the website of your breeder regarding the Brun Progeny: "These lines are known for hard dogs with crushing bites, dogs capable of top sport work or real service work. If you are seeking a dog that will turn heads, this is the litter to find that kind of German Shepherd!"
This does not sound like a family dog. This is what I saw that made me think the dog was not suitable.

Absolutley get a nice working lines GSD! I'm not sure where a few replies assume you're retarded and can't learn how to handle a dog are coming from.........I'm assuming you're not
Anyhow, read a little , talk to people about local trainers, maybe hook up with an AKC club to do obedience with your pup. Don't worry so much about training for protection for awhile and let the pup grow up a little bit, your plate will be full just bringing up a nice drivey puppy! I'm gonna give you the first 6 week scheduale : crate train , bond and have fun!

Thanks Marcia for your anwser. I just call my breeder regarding this breeding stock, and he told me that he will be extremely careful to choose the right puppy for suitable to my family needed.

No. not your goal for him. How do you expect him to act and behave when you bring him home?

You have a lot of time to get ready. Do as Al says and lay the ground work for when the pup comes home, so you get off to a good start. And think about what Steve is saying about expectations. Be realistic about what this pup will be like on day one.

Happy I checked out this thread before I posted, so many new replies.
Al gives good advice. AND he has good taste in dogs!
Communication with your breeder is number one and it looks like you got that covered. And you came back to this thread which kind of shows me those little puppy teeth have met their match.
I've had litters that are very uniform in drive and I have had ones that were more on a bell curve. I think most people that have seen my dogs will agree that there are a couple serious ones here and there, and in every litter I have placed a pup in a pet/novice home and so far so good. Have a back up plan with your breeder in case the match ends up not being a good one.
A training group/class is a must. This will give you the foundation to move unto other things later. If you think you might want to pursue personal protection or sport, look for a club that you can go to, it will really help with foundation work.
My first working dog Pepper, what a trip that was and still is! I think I stood there with my jaw open 1/2 the time. My husband would get a panicked look whenever I was getting ready to leave the house and would beg "You're taking Pepper with you, right?"
Complete panic....Think deer in the headlights multiplied by about 10.
So do your research, (which it sounds like you are doing) talk to your breeder a lot and go from there. If the breeder doesn't sound like they have the right dog for you wait.
Oh, and I've bought dogs that had the look I like when the time was right and the money was right. As long as the dog is right for you and you are right with the dog, there is nothing wrong with that.
Good luck!
