Oh I think this is GREAT news! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the news today only continues in this positive direction. I just came inside from 12 degree temps trying to play with Falcon... he did fine however my fingers hurt even with two pair of gloves on. I simply can't imagine how folks are okay abandoning dogs! (assuming this little gal didn't just do the escape artist thing...)
I've got my fingers crossed that she doesn't have any serious injuries and was just in shock, scared, and sore.
People are heartless. Just a few months ago, someone tied a pitbull puppy to a shelf in our store and left it. And left a kitten in a box in the parking lot... Talked to a guy yesterday that found an abandoned puppy wandering in an Arizona desert on the 4th of July!.... The list goes on and on. I'm just glad that you were there to find the puppy. Sometimes the universe has a way of funneling animals in need to the right people : )
HUGE DITTO!!
You may never have posted about similar situations in which you've shown generosity and assistance to critters in need, but somehow I already took you as the "compassionate" type... Nice work.
I really hope her injuries aren't too serious, and if you end up keeping her, she looks like a complete sweetheart that will definitely repay every ounce of your efforts to save her - and she'll surely recognize she's landed in doggie heaven right around dinnertime!
They should call later today to let me know what is going on.
She peed a little during the night, which was expected, and peed again this morning when I carried her outside.
Still no poop, but if all goes good at the vet then food will be on the way and I'm sure that'll get things goin'.
You can tell she is getting more comfortable with us quickly.
I'm almost positive that there is some sort of serious trauma to her back legs. Whether it starts in her back, hips, or is localized to the legs, I don't know.
The rate of improvement just from getting her warm and comfortable makes me hopeful, though.
Rescues are tough. Sometimes it can be the most satisfying thing to train a dog and give it away to a good family, then other times the dogs just can't be fixed, that's the downside. I'm on my 5th rescue right now and she's a tough case. It's a compassionate endeavor for sure. I hope things work out for this girl! Nice job Mike and family!!!!
Mike, I have to say I absolutely LOVE the new pic of your pup, er baby... However, I hope I'm still around in about 12 years when your child will be of the age when they think you are an idiot and not fit to be a parent, and then comes across the photo of dad lifting the leg to the hydrant!!! Oh yeaaahhhh...good times will roll in the Wise household! LOL!

Oh, me too.
I immediately filed that in my mental "Heh heh ... wait till he's a teenager" file.
