So, should I find another GSD for the creek crossing lessons? Would she pay attention to a suitable water loving dog (or, dis it since it does not have her sensibilities)? LOL
I really think you're going to have no problem with the first few suggestions you got. The dog has already done it, even if reluctantly. I am betting that one outing focused casually on that will pretty much take care of it.

Now doesn't the mental image of a few dozen water-loving pugs put a smile on your face? How can it not? A single pug out of water is kinda cute all by itself, but lots of them happy in the stream... tooo cute for words. My neice wants a pug and wants to name him "Mr. Squeeshums".

Pugs, jumping and splashing around a slightly nerdy white shepherd! Egging her on, and being much braver! Just imagine! It does bring a smile to your face.

I can see Maggie with pug sattelites.
This conversation reminds me of a novel called Pug Hill. Can't recall the author. More Chick lit than dog book, but cute.

Nothing wrong with a little chick lit... Lord knows we need a bit of "Calgon take me away" every now and then!

There certainly is not any biological impulse in racism. RACISM AND BIGOTRY ARE LEARNED BEHAVIORS!
TAUGHT to this whatever cortex.
No argument from me, Randy.
Racism = bad
Racism = learned
Racism = "same-ism" + limitations in experience + fear
My point was that humans are SUPPOSED to have a higher intelligence which, in theory, allows them consider abstract concepts to overcome a restricted range in actual experiences. (Unfortunately, sarcasm can't be delivered very well on an internet forum. Some day, I'll learn that lesson myself :blush
You know, we socialize working dogs by exposing them to all peoples, environments, and animals so that they don't react to these "differences" as working adults. If human parents would do that with human children, we'd all be better off in the long run.
A dog has alot of friends because he wags his tail instead of his mouth.

2 months later, and here is the update. Maggie crosses creeks, log bridges, runs and splashes in the water if the creek parallels the trail. No Pugs were involved, but just matter of fact application of all of the suggestions in this thread: play in the water, see other dog across the creek and go meet them, just do it!
yes, that is a mud wallow.

Marcia, congrats on getting Maggie to participate in all those activities! No doubt she is one happy and more confident girl.
Now can you come over to my house and get my male, Kodi to swim in our pool? I have tried to no avail, everything you can thing of, and still he refuses. He sees my female Kaia in there all the time, and nothing is changing his mind.
Anyway, it sure is great to hear about Maggie! Good for you!
