Proper hand position for a joint lock is proper hand position. You have very little control of a joint if your hand is on top of or above it, your hand has to be below it.
Which takes me back to, skinny people are hard to hold on to.
Skinny arms slip through your hands quite easily. Sometimes apprehension is a whole lot like riding a bucking bull. Hold on to whatever you can.
Scott, At first glance, with the photo so small, I thought this was a set-up, "acted" fight... However, after watching it again, is this a real fight with one guy getting severely beaten?
I don't watch any of the inflammatory vids. This type or the stuff with guys crushing the heads of cows with sledgehammers, etc. Call me a wimp but I've learned there are things you just can't unsee. Life's hard enough as it is without these little jolts from the internets.

Scott, Please be careful with lines like this. It's a racial slur to some and offensive to many.
To be bluntly honest I'm very happy with the outcome of this and I hope Officer Walsh is cleared of any wrong doing. He did the best he could with no backup and a forming crowd. Not too long ago an officer was left half beaten to death on a Seattle sidewalk in a similar situation, so I admire his restraint. The only sad thing in my mind is that this kid wasn't 18.

So are sweaty people.
Again, this is why I said he should probably retake his self defense training. It's his own ass he'll save by doing so.

It's a scene from Goodfellas where Ray Liotta's character Henry Hill pistol whips the ever loving hell out of a guy that disrespected his girlfriend. Those are the kind of people I grew up around from 11 on, after my dad retired.
I'm sorry if it bothered you.

You, if you're offended by it. Oh, and you should say that "know-it-all" line into a mirror next time.
