Kristel, you and Tracey are like the poster children for commitment!
I will never understand people who blithely get rid of the dogs when they move, or for most of the common reasons.
When I was a young girl, my mother fixed this attitude in me for life. She was one of those people who got animals on impulse, then when the opposite impulse struck ("I can't take it anymore!"), off they went.
One of those times, it was a wonderful GSD named Smokey. I was gaga over that dog. Came home from first grade one day, no Smokey. Looked all over the apt. for her, then went outside and scoured the whole block, in case she'd gotten out somehow. I was blubbering by the time I'd circled the block, calling her name to no avail.
By the time I'd returned back home, my mother had come home. I told her I couldn't find Smokey. She replied, "I know. I just couldn't take it anymore; I took her to the pound."
I hated her for a long time, and I'll never forget my little 6 year old self swearing that I'd never do that to an animal.
I guess it's true that sometimes, the worst teachers teach you the best lessons.
Thank you every one for your kind words and best wishes, I think thats the nicest things people have said to me in quite a while, very much appreciated.
