Nah Barbara,
You know better than to think I'd 'really' mock any breed, or mixed breed of dog for that matter.
The reason I asked for the alphebet letter of the litter is thats how breeders keep track of which and how many litters a bitch has had.
It's kind of a loose tradition that the name of each dog of a litter starts with the same letter as the number of litters the dam has had.
For instance. I call my pup Strider. But he was from Capri's first litter. His proper name is Alf der Strider Eisenherz.
(yeah, I fudged things a bit)
Does that clear up what I was asking?
I know you love all breeds or mixed breeds, but the question regarded a showline dog... I'm not sure you would / could say you love all showline dogs, and Randy, in all honesty - I understand that. Two years ago I may not have, but I do now.
I understood about the pups from a particularly "named" alphabetic litter being named from that litter - Falcon was from the "F" litter - THAT I understood.
My confusion was it appeared that you were "mocking" that particular poster on his choice of a showline dog and the "letter of the alphabet" its litter was - as if a working line dog would not have originated from an "alphabetical" litter. Does that make sense?
So - BOTH great working line dogs as well as showline litters can legitimately categorized as letters of the alphabet - correct?
The entire kennel uses the letter for their litters. But each year has it's own letter.
Actually, it gets even worse (I looked into this a lot when I was figuring out Geyser's name, which is actually H'Geyser, with her being from an H litter...)
Anyway, as I understand it, with some breeds, every litter born to ANY kennel during a given calendar year has to start with the same letter (in European countries). I'm not sure which breeds this covers, but I think Mals may be one of them. I'm not clear on where this originates, but I'm guessing, the parent breed club.
The main thing I was interested in was how to stick with the litter letter and still use a name I wanted to use, so I was looking into the letter-hypostrophe-name thing.
Anyway, I'm sure Ana will come up with a great name .

There's no set rule that I'm aware of Barbara. Some breeders go with a letter, some will go with a theme like Gone with the Wind where they name the Scarlett or Rhett, that kind of thing. Some of the time people will stick with that for the breeder with the registered name, like Randy and Strider.
Ana has a nice puppy, he was out to watch last night. Settled right in. I think she's going to have a lot of fun with him.
