See if I was doing something like this as a teacher I would do the difference in academic outcomes in kids who were taught to print and kids who primarily use cursive. It has been on my mind for a long time and observing these two groups i really feel that kids who use cursive do so much better because writing cursive is much faster so they can take better notes and do their work faster etc.
I think what a study like this would actually reveal is the incredible biases in education, and how little "educating" we actually do.
This is probably my last post to this thread because first of all this poor guy is asking questions about his PhD and not about all of the above and second of all I don't like talking to prickly people who can't stop being prickly around people who simply don't know enough English to understand.
Lenka
Lenka, don't worry about the pricklies! It's just a discussion board, after all.
PS, your English is great; sometimes it's very easy to misinterpret the intent of someone's post on a discussion board. I think you have to give the person the benefit of the doubt, don't assume the worst and don't let comments get under your skin. (that's why we use these dumbass emoticons)
I personally would love to hear what you have to say about cursive vs printing, especially with regard to your experiences with gifted children.
If you care to invite a discussion, start a new thread under 'General Non Dog Related Chat'...
Oh dear, what am I do to now?
The sympathy card has been played!
What with English being a second language you have a hard time grasping, I hope you're not teaching in the US. We have enough problems in our educational system already.
And I don't really think this little 'discussion' is a derailment from the thread started by the op'er at all, but is quite pertinent.
As Dennis just pointed out operant conditioning can and does extent to all animals (ahem that includes us). You may want to consider that the next time you're grading papers Lenka, because you're not immune any more than the rest of us nor are your students.
To properly keep this in tune with the original question.
I'd think any PHD thesis on operant conditioning for dogs would have to cite various studies on it's effectiveness on all species within our sphere and influence.
