I know you did. When I said that "no one told him to re-home his dog," I was referring to the reaction (or lack thereof) to you saying that you almost killed the dog in your signature by feeding him improperly. I'm pretty sure I'm remembering this properly, but if not I apologize.
Obviously the OP of this thread doesn't know a lot. And no one likes to be told that they should just give their dog up. Not saying he was in the right, at all, but telling him to give up his dog pretty much shuts him down to receiving advice, turns him off to this forum, and hurts his dog in the long run.

Mmm, nope. I did.
Sending a dog who lacks prey drive, to a board-and-train trainer and telling them "I want a bark and hold" is setting the dog up to be abused by said trainer.
The OP was given good advice, and instead declared that he was too busy to do the right thing, and wanted the easy way.
The easy way is going to cause his dog immense suffering.
Sorry, I care more about dogs, than owners.
Sorry Aaron. If that's what you ment to tell the OP you should have said that. It's not my area of expertise to understand how the entire sport dog command series is taught but the jump from Don't send a dog to a trainer because a board and train is a bad idea to it's unethical to send THIS dog to anyone for a bark and hold training is another story. That crucial piece was missed and there is yet another person out on the net who has likely dismissed this board as a bunch of asses. ~bravo~ Let's hope the next board is ethical enough not to see dollar signs flash before their eyes at the scent of newb.
The problem with just caring about the dog is that the dog doesn't read the board, the owner does. It doesn't mean you should sugar coat it but you should at least explain the attitude.

Thank you, Barbara.
Clear and concise.
Train the dog yourself. The process is well worth the time. It is rewarding for you and the dog.
IF, BIG IF, I were going to send my dog somewhere it would be to a world renowned trainer like Michael Ellis or someone he approved.
Other than that, my opinion, and the opinion of the majority of the board is that sending a dog off for training is a bad idea.
Sorry there are no other recommendations. Good luck!
A differing opinion from the OP's, yet delivered in a manner that may keep them around for more. THAT would be better for the dog. Don't have squat to do with the human.
Somebody go let all the Tom Rose students know that they have some free time now. There is no work for them anymore.

If you don't have the time to train your dog, you don't have the time to own a dog.
Please rehome.
Agreed, but does anyone really listen?
It's called n00b flaming and no forum is immune to it.
The guy that made the rehoming comment also made a comment recently to the effect of "I almost killed the dog in my signature by feeding him such-and-such."
I don't recall anyone telling him to re-home his dog. And I can imagine that if anyone did, the smackdown would have been swift. Group dynamics/pecking order always at work.
So when you jumped in to agree right away, were you flaming the noob or just searching for a place in the pecking order?

We've pretty much covered the thread going awry.
Sorry, ma'am.
Probably my fault. I'll drop it now.

???
This may need to be a topic of a new post, but WTH?? I have never seen anything but appropriate suggestions on which FREE videos or ebooks OR the right videos to purchase if possible... Maybe I misunderstood, and if so, I apologize.
