Hi everyone, thanks to all again for the help on the 26th! My pup has been eating bone-in Chicken Breasts for almost two weeks now, and he has responded very well to them.
I am now looking to introduce some other cuts to his diet, and I was looking for any advice. I found some whole chickens and chicken thighs on sale that I stuck in the freezer. I was thinking about giving him some thighs tonight. Any thoughts, concerns, advice etc etc?!
Thanks again
Sounds good! Is he used to skin now? If so, I can't think of any problem.

Brian-
I can relate to the questions you are asking about the raw diet. The responses also helped me decide what to feed my little 13- week old, Kaiser! Thanks for posting because I learned alot from your post.
Hope all is going well with your dog!

Glad that my questions have been a help to you!
My dog has been eating thighs and bone-breasts for a few weeks now, and he seems to really love them and had reacted well to them.
Do any of you guys feed chicken drum sticks to your dogs? I was talking to some lady at the store the other day who feeds her dogs bone in breasts, but says drumsticks can hurt your pretty bad and basically yelled at me!
I swear, every time i think i have this figured out, i end up with a dozen more questions!

Drumsticks are fine. If your dog is a gulper you might look for "leg quarters" which is leg and thigh still connected. These are usually a very good value--as cheap as backs if you can find them on sale. One of the local markets here has them for 58 cents a pound this week in 10 pound bags. My dogs have eaten tons of chicken legs.
The leg bone (and especially the knob at the end) are obviously a bit harder than chicken ribs, but they should pose no special problem. Grocery store chickens are slaughtered at 8-10 weeks. Their bones are soft.

Awesome, thank you Tracy! I realize I might be asking questions to which I already know the answer, but I like the reassurance, especially after a self professed raw expert yells at me!
I actually was just ordering the “natural nutrition for dogs and cats” book from Leerburg, hopefully that will give me most of the information that I will need.

Well, we've all heard so many "truths" about feeding dogs that it takes hearing the same thing a couple times about raw feeding.
You are undoing alot of what you've always heard about canine nutrition.
There is plenty of reassurance to go around here.

And I'll add my reassurance that leg quarters make up a large part of my guy's diet and he does not have any problems with them what so ever.

Brian- I had the same question about drumsticks.
I have a question about the age to feed leg quarters. Kaiser is REALLY teething to the point his little jaws are swollen (And he just had his Rabies shot )
He does well with the breasts with ribs, but when can I start the leg quarters? Also I was thinking of introducing gizzards SLOWLY and in SMALL amounts and then watching for the "proper poo".
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

The answer is "when he can eat leg quarters".
There aren't any size or age requirements. My 15 lb. dog handles them with ease.
If they can, they can. If they can't, they can't.
Give one and see what happens.
It may hurt too much with the teething going on, or served cold may feel really nice to gnaw on. If he can't eat it, take it away.
