I'm pretty confident that the dude who shot the Husky at the dog park had a similar mindset...
If your dogs are aggressive, then maybe they should be out of sight/reach of visitors to your home. That way, you won't have problems with people touching them when they're not supposed to.
But if your dogs are allowing themselves to be petted, maybe they are not as aggressive as you are claiming/worrying they are?
My dogs doesn't really care about people. They are 100% neutral but people keep trying to calling, petting, and even trying to command my dogs.
My pitbull mix bite 5 visitors already. No blood... And I don't want to take more risk.
and yes I keep my dog in other room, when visitors coming to my house they passing my dogs room and they will say oh you have 2 dogs how cuutee... and they start petting them.
Some people politely ask, 'can i pet your dog' mostly just go to my dog's room and acting like they are the dog owner.
I can be rude to people if they don't listen to what I told them.
I don't need to hide my dogs away. They have their own place to stay.

I don't care for the macho, aggressive types.
My dogs don't care for that type of person either. What about a nice tan? What do they think of that?

It seems to happen more nowadays, is it just that people are raising fools *everywhere*?
Cripes, do we need to spray them with pepper spray to make our point?
Maybe not directly But if you have to spray the dog, the owner will at some point touch that dog and get a dose of it also.

They most def. are into looks, fake or real. An animal intuituve might be able to shed more light into why they are superficial.

This is full of win...

I don't need to hide my dogs away. They have their own place to stay.
If you don't want people to pet your dogs, the dogs should be in a crate where they cannot be reached by visitors.
And it seems like you have some issue with getting people to follow your house rules.

If he has bitten 5 people, I would not consider him nuetral. I would have him in a kennel with a lock if people were over.
Not worth the risk IMO.

Kristel,
Thanks for your input. My concern with using a muzzle during walks is what if my dog does get into a situation where he is attacked by a loose dog and needs to defend himself.
I use a large walking stick (admittedly because Cesar uses one) but also because if I have to ward off loose dogs or strays I want to be able to defend myself and my dogs.
Because I have 2 and usually walk them together it seems that its possible to have a confrontation where I may need to let go of one leash to either defend us or pull apart two fighting dogs. A muzzle would make my dog vulnerable. I cant have that.

Alec I understand the concern of having your dog muzzled and it not having the ability to defend itself. Part of me, though, is thinking that if he were muzzled and attacked, breaking a fight would be easier (lack of a better word) because you wouldn't have to deal with 2 or 3 mouths and breaking that cycle. Just a thought...

Lots of conflicting statements here. If his dogs were that aggressive they wouldn't let people approach randomly like that.
Jeter (pic below) is not aggressive towards people. He doesn't like other dogs and that is a problem I am dealing with but here is a situation where my dog became aggressive towards a human.
I have one of those full glass storm doors. The dogs like to sit by the door and look at people and cars passing by. When the mailman comes he has to walk right up to the house to leave the mail. Jeter barks at him but its the kind of bark that lets me know someone is approaching.
About a week or so ago I was standing outside when the mailman came ad the dogs were inside looking out of the storm door 1 foot away from me. The mailman came up the walk handed me my mail and he asked if Jeter would bite him if he got out of the house. I told him Jeter would rush him (because he is coming on the property) but wouldn't bite. I also assured him that Jeter could never break through the glass and there is no way he would get out.
As soon as I said that the mailman bent over and got in Jeters face to say hello (of course the storm door was keeping them apart) and Jeter went nuts. I explained that its never a good idea to make such aggressive and direct eye contact with a dog like that.
Now I really have to make sure Jeter doesn't get to the mailman because now the mailman is a marked man.

Aimee...gorgeous dog by the way. What you say makes sense but I cant help but feel that I am setting Jeter up to be hurt if he cant defend himself. He is young, strong and somewhat fearful which makes him aggressive towards other dogs. He was attacked at a dog park by 2 English Bulldogs.
I have seen what he is capable of and I know how he would react to being attacked. With the muzzle on he will try very aggressively to fight and that (I think) would trigger a strongger response in any other dog to fight. Thats why I am afraid to leave him unarmed sort of speak.
