I beg to differ. I have shed tears of happiness, frustration, and sadness; all related to my dogs and their training.
Frustration: with myself when I can't figure out how to make my dogs understand what I am asking. They do exactly as I ask, but I don't always ask the right questions.
Happiness: when I finally break through the communication wall. When Drift passed her TDI evaluation with "excellent dog" written in the comments.
Sadness: when I fail my dogs in any way. And, of course, when my dogs make their way to the Bridge.
Dan, I know that the decision to bring Carla home was not one that you took lightly. You gave it much thought, and you did listen to those of us that didn't think it was the right time.
BUT, only you can decide if it's the right time. Only you know the truly personal reasons for bringing this pup home. Only you know your heart.
Is it a decison that I would make? I don't know as I have not been put in that position. I can tell you that my heart decided to bring an animal home on more than one occasion. Currently I have 5 animals living with me that were "heart decisions" and I do not regret any of them. (2 horses and 3 dogs)
Good luck, Dan. I hope that you know that we will always have your back.
Congratulations on your new pack member. Carla is beautiful. Yes, two dogs are twice the work of one, as I have learned over the past two years, becoming a two-dog household for the first time, but it sounds like you have the commitment and determination to make it work. I'm looking forward to your updates!
