Almost wish I had a need for a saddle, you can't beat those prices.
Gotta be careful with Chick's saddles.... many are mexican made.
I just made a fleece coat for our Pointer, Sara (who's a total chicken in the cold. We currently have 3'' of snow!) I may have to order her that blanket to go over it though. Sissy dog.
Another cheap option for big dogs (80+lbs) is a foal sized blanket- thats what Koenig wears when it's raining hard and I don't want to deal with the wet dog smell. Works like a charm. He looks awesome in purple plaid!
Thanks for the saddle info. Didn't really pay to much attention to the makes. The sticker unshock had me dazzled.

I'll bet he's just gorgeous. He's such a striking pup anyway.
You know, it sounds like a few vests got ordered and quite a few folks have them already. Might be kinda fun to see pictures of all these guys in their winter wear. Maybe Barbara could arrange some kind of fashion show Christmas Contest.
Garrett’s new coat from Chick’s (and my new vest ) came in on Friday. Very quick, quite impressed. I wasn’t sure which thread to post this on. So because it’s not “fashion show” adjusted yet, I thought I’d follow up on this one.
It’s actually quite a nice fit except, it seems to me, the back over his butt is a bit too long and where it hangs down around his back legs, I’d like to see that a bit shorter. It has these great pleats in the front, the first pic is with them closed and second one shows how spread out they get… great for movability (is that a even a word). Anyway, here he is.
He really likes this one. No shaking which I'm sure is the smooth nylon lining and no pulling anywhere. It's got a great fleece collar too. He kind of looks like Count Dracula with it up. I just need to figure out how to adjust this back end.
The camera was acting up again but we’ve deleted all the pictures and changed the batteries so hopefully I can get some better shots. And don’t mind the dirty vehicle, they’re sanding and salting our roads something fierce. The vehicles always pay the price.
It looks great!!!!!!!!!!!! He looks just lovely in zebra.
The gussets (pleat at the shoulder) are great for movement. I won't purchase a horse blanket without them. If you feel the back is kinda long, the only real way to adjust it on those types of blankets is to tighten up the velcro on the chest. That'll bring the back up with it. (I have the same issue with Koenig's foal size coat)
I've got it quite tight here, there's a little wiggle room but I don't know how much tighter it should be without causing that uncomfortableness around his ribs again.
Do you think there's a way to maybe cut off and stitch it up? And what about the length over the butt, does that look okay? He did okay in the relieving departments though, but just seems a bit long and floppy for exercizing in.
He sure is snuggly warm though. I really do love it.
I wouldn't worry about the extra fabric in the back if I were you. Some of the barn dogs wear hand me downs and if they are a little big then they hang over in the back. It doesn't slow them down any.

Same with horses.... It's just personal preference. If you don't like the long look, it's pretty easy to cut off a couple inches and stitch it back up. Other then that, if it's not bothering him, I'd leave it! (If horses blankets are too long, then poop and them, and they get kinda gross... have not seen that with dogs though!)
Well, you know, that sure seems to be true. He was just motoring along in it, like he wasn't wearing anything. He actually had on his wonderful husky smile the whole time. So maybe I'm just being too picky.
Okay, maybe I'll sit back and just enjoy it for a bit and look at the alterations if any problems creep up. I'll try snugging it up a bit too.
Thanks again guys, for all your help and an extra thanks to you Juliana for the great site!! Very impressed with the whole experience and this really is a quality coat.
