Becky, those goats are a couple of the cutest little guys I've ever seen. Don't blame your girlfriend for not wanting to put them down. They look so cuddly.
And just a quick question with all this castration talk. Does any one feed the removed parts to their dogs? The deer we just got had a huge set and Bob will never have any part of that discussion. It's always off to the butcher with them attached (it's the law) but they never get to come home.
I thought they might make a nice treat, maybe not?
Did Bob also hate the vasectomy talk?? LOL! Can't really blame 'em, can we?
When watching many wildlife shows, once the prey animal is killed, it almost always seems that the "removed parts" are the first to get devoured. I can only assume they are indeed, a valued item.
Thanks Barbara, and yes, I’ve tried to bring up the natural aspect but he’s just not going there. And it’s not like I can sneak them off, they have to go, but I can’t get him to ask for them back.
It must be a guy thing. Sorry for the interruption. Back to the bouncing baby kids. Again, adorable!!
Well, poor little Goatburger is mincing around with his little baubles in a band. Unfortunately, Lunchbox has undescended testicles, so I'm afraid that has probably shortened his life span considerably since we're unable to make him a wether. Both got disbudded as well. NOT impressed with the goat vet, going to have to look for another.
Animals are so freakin' strange - Gouda has not much given a crap for Lunchbox from the start, she hardly nurses him unless there is grain involved; poor little beggar has learned to grab a titty and eat on the run as she grazes around. She must let him nurse his fill at night in the shed, because she's always near-empty in the mornings.
Anyway, I was worried that Brie would freak out when we left with Goatburger, but oddly enough it was Gouda that was all distressed! When we brought them back, she was the one bawling like a banshee and racing around sniffing him from stem to stern. 24 hours later, he's back to eating on the run again!
