yes the ob is crap under distractions, he started showing signs of agression around 3 or 4 mounths old . i did have a trainner come to my house ,dan trains dogs in my opion he made my dog worse , not much socialization besides taking him to the pet store and regular parks so he could just sit and watch people . its been determined he was fear aggresive from the trainer that came and an other one i took him to
The guy that came to my house just threw a prong collar on him and was giving him preaty hard corections for a puppy i think ,and was sprayinng him in the face with spray sheild and just told me o put im away when anyone came over
Michael please contact the people you've been told about and get this dog on a good proper training and exercise program to try and salvage him. But, you may end up having to face the fact that it would be best to put him down. I would definitely try everything possible to prevent having to do so, but if there's no improvement that decission may have to be made for the dog's sake.
Can you drive to a rural area? If you can't walk to exercise the dog maybe you can drive to a quiet rural area and trot (not gallop) the dog out the drivers side window. Or, borrow a treadmill. The dog needs to work out. He may be going insane from confinement, muzzling, isolation. Obviously you need to start slow so he doesn't get joint trouble on top of his other issues, but without regular exercise you guys might be screwed.
This sounds really sad Michael. You’re pup has been through a few different handlers (sorry, I shudder to call them trainers) and has not been given a chance to develop any confidence. Yank and crank with a prong to a point that he has to fight back says pure confusion and pain to me. No wonder he’s turning into a monster.
He’s acting out of fear and anxiety because he’s not even confident in his own environment now.
If this pup were to come into my care, and I’d take him in a heartbeat if I could, he’d be given a month of simple bonding and pure confidence building. I’d find out what motivates him and play till he drops. Hours of structured energy draining exercise, on his terms – running, hiking, fetch, tug, seeking out food, finding treats – exercises that he finds pleasure in. Simply allow him to be a dog and live without confusion or fear of when the next hammer is going to drop on him.
During that month, I’d be free-shaping all desired behaviours. Sit, down, calmness, looking to me for direction, simple actions he will know are desirable and that he is a “good boy” because of.
Then, once his temperament has a true ability to show it’s genetic self, I would develop the training plan. Slow, simple, uncomplicated steps to mold the dog into the companion/work animal that I felt he was capable of.
If I felt I couldn’t provide the appropriate environment to ensure his well-being and the safety of all involved – I would seek out a home that could.
